Random Tips thread

This thread is for random tips to help other members out.

My first one is:

Don't stop and buy petrol from a petrol station when a truck is there unloading the fuel into the underground tanks. The unloading process stirs up all the muck and water in the tanks and can transfer it to yours where it can clog your fuel filter over time or worse....

That doesn't make that much of a difference, they have filters and all that at the servo, so you aren't going to get any crap in your car

The filters aren't that great and they don't separate water

my tip is, only use the one fuel don't switch between normal unleaded and Ethanol based unleaded, your Computer will be confused, and you will have mixed readings on fuel economy via your trip display.
stick to the one fuel.
i use the cheapest E-10 Unleaded.

E-10 seams cheaper at the pump, but it actualy ends up costing you more because it burns up quicker

I pump regular unleaded petrol, as just like the linked article, the cost savings associated with using e-10 does not always correspond to saving money in the long run (as e-10 will use more petrol than regular and premium).

However, I guess it's really dependent on how hard you drive the car, and other factors. Just letting people know about it.

me either... according to pheonix the best to use is 95 as it gets the most K's for cost

Just learnt from my recent defensive driving course. You are 20% less likely to have an accident if you have your lights on full time, day and night. SO now I do, and the good old CJ turns them off automatically when I turn the engine off
