WTB: STOCK CJ SHOCKS/STRUTS

Postby MY08_CJ_LANCER » Wed Jun 02, 2010 10:31 pm

Hi I'm after a standard strut/shock for the front drivers side ( 2008 CJ ), clipped a gutter and bent on me.

OR if anyone could point me in the direction of a wrecker in Melb that might have one..

Cheers :)

You could try Imlachs in Clayton.

else how much are you looking to pay for them? Please don't say as little as possible. Since you asked, you must know what they're worth.

I would be checking that it is only the strut as well... Unlikely you would just damage the strut without causing other damage.

I would get it looked at and ensure there is not more damage before forking out money.

Might be better to claim on insurance.

Imlachs as Ofey suggested should have some.
they had quite a few lancers in stock when i got some interior bits.
it also could be a good chance to upgrade to some better shocks and lower the car if you are thinking of doing it in the future..

Also I assume it would be alike changing tyres, you change both of the fronts to the same struts of the same age, so as to not have any imbalances.

Also if you have a VRX their struts are different to those of an ES and VR (exact same dimensions but presumably the VRX struts have stiffer dampening).

I have a set of ES struts available within a week or so, but you'd be looking at needing to courier them from NSW. Although if you've bent the strut chances are you've bent a control arm, so I'd go to Pedders and get like a $28 14-point check or something like that. They should be able to tell you the extent of the damage.

thanks to everyone who replied i got a strut couple of days ago from imlachs for $165, ive changed it now myself and the car drives straight as can be but my ASC light is still on.. saying service required.. is this something i need to get reset by a dealer or maybe faulty sensor or something else needs chaning? etc

I suspect it's a bent sensor mounting bracket causing a miss-alignment thus the ASC light.
Should be relatively cheap and easy to fix, so be aware of the dealers findings.

Im with sam here id say that its just a sensor problem take the wheel off and check its in place properly or if its damaged/bent bracket/sensor.
