I'll post here since on whirlpool im not getting a response
Hi all,
Just applied for Foxtel with the IQ1 box. I want to hook it up to a non-HDMI monitor which is also connected to a PC (win7 x64). Not looking to record stuff.
Before people tell me to search, yes I have done so but some of my questions are not answered.
1) Will any kind of TV tuner do (simplest one) as the IQ2 unit will do all the HDTV decoding and what-not. [Leadtek DTV1000S HDTV FM Dgital Radio Remote]
2) How does the sound work via the TV-tuner card – or do I have to somehow hook it up to the computer speakers? (Sorry, no exp with tv-tuners at all).
Thanks

From memory, all video and signal feeds from foxtel are encrypted and locked. I found this out by trying to record stuff through my regular foxtel set top box onto a digital recorder. Came up with the error that it was a digitally copywrited signal and could not be recorded.
If you want to watch foxtel on your PC monitor, you can buy an adapter which will take the RCA output from the foxtel box and convert it to a D-SUB connection.

Well, I bought the Leadtek DTV1000S HDTV FM Dgital Radio Remote today.
Got Foxtel installed as well... gave me and IQ2 instead
Anyway, they gave me a HDMI cable to connect to one of my monitors that I do not want a use it one.
Connected to the TV card via S-video (since it doesn't support components) and plugged the audio (stereo RCA) to the line-in (blue) on the motherboard. Had to make windows set the line-in to always on (otherwise when we quit watching foxtel it doesn't start up again). Using the Leadtek program to watch Foxtel.
