How to remove rear lip spoiler?

Postby Jim G » Sun May 02, 2010 3:03 pm

After some searching it seems that most people recommend the heat+fishing line method but I couldn't find anything specific to the Lancer - are there any bolts or clips holding the lip spoiler on?

It's a stock 2008 VR lip spoiler.

I fitted my rear lip spoiler myself.

From memory there were 2 screws and double sided tape that hold it down. I removed the screw and held it on with the double sided tape and sikaflex.

If you remove the trim from the inside of the boot you should be able to see the screw. just check the hole way along as there mat be more then 2.

I would remove the screws and put longer one in and then tap with a hammer to help loosen.

If you go to your dealer they will be able to give you advice and show you the screws and probably the fitting instructions. It all helps.

As far as im aware, there is no mounting or securing bolts that hold the spoiler on. It would be a bit overkill to have bolts and screws n all that jazz holding on a small piece of plastic when some double sided tape will do it just fine...

As others have said, fishing line and a hairdryer will do the job fine....

Btw, is your lip spoiler lightning blue? If so how much do you want for it :D

In total there are 1 positioning stud in the middle above the rear brake light. plus 2 screw 1 at each side, about 1 ft away from the middle of the lip spoiler.
