ok so this isnt for a CJ lancer, a mate of mine is looking at getting an alarm for his 97 Astina. hes looking at this one

personally i wouldnt trust a $30 alarm system. what you guys think? any suggestions for him?

For insurance purposes it means absolutely nothing as it won't comply the the relevant AS/NZS standards.

Go buy a proper alarm would be my recommendation, like a Mongoose, Python, Viper, etc and get it installed by a professional.

Ryan is right,
A fully integrated Alarm is the way to go...i have an Aftermarket Motor One Alarm that was installed through my dealer.
It was produced for the CJ.
ITS AWESOME!

Same here, I wouldn't trust a cheap alarm on my car either - I got a cat4 alarm installed by the dealer.

I was changing the dome light in the Lancer when the alarm was armed (i didn't know that it was) and it sparked and it set off the alarm, scared the living cr@p out of me!

Good to know it works :P

But if you didn't have an alarm a cheap alarm is better than no alarm
