Next lancer, hybrid?

Postby lantourismo » Sun Mar 23, 2014 11:16 pm

Was a having a read of the motoring section and came across an article about the new outlander model due for release, the PHEV. It combines a a 2 litre petrol engine (4b11?) with a pair of 60kw electric motors. Claimed consumption of 1.9L/100km and range of the electric motors of 52km. Charge time is 5hours from flat or fast charge of 30mins. Not sounding bad so far if it performs. Considering mitsubishi shares tech between the outlander and lancer, this tech could find it's way into the next generation lancer.

What's your thoughts, considering the recent improvements and performance potential of electric motors would you buy it? :?:

Yeah well it isn't that new a technology anymore they seem to have addressed the range and charging issues. Looking at what Porsche and mclaren have done with the tech it shows hybrids don't have to be like the dreadful Prius and other earlier iterations of hybrid cars.
