I;m very curious to know HOW they stole a new CJ Lancer without using the keys to start it, or did they???

My info is that all modern cars a virtually theft proof short of towing them away if u do not have the keys.

The break-ins all occurred at two-storey houses...A police spokeswoman said back sliding doors and windows had been forced at all homes to gain entry.

It was 15 homes broken into with 7 cars stolen...

They had the keys for the cars they stole.

aussie027, a friend told me someone in Bathurst near her place had their 2006 Commodore stolen the other night... But then again it's a commodore, which have one of the most useless immobilizers.

Ok That makes sense Ryan. Usually they break in to your house and grab keys from somewhere very open and obvious.

If any cars are at home when everyone is out in the other cars the keys should be hidden somewhere not easily found.

Our Lancers have all systems wired into the ECU so should be pretty much impossible to start without the key.
Starter, ignition, fuel pumps etc all activate only after key recognition by ECU.

Why would you steal a commodore? Unless it was to drive you to a place to steal a good car :P I'll be definitely keeping my keys with me at nite
