VIC - Seb from Victoria

Postby sebastiandivita » Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:32 pm

Hey there Lancer lover's!

Im Sebastian and currently very interested in purchasing a 2007 Lancer VRX (CJ of coarse). I had noticed that the Rally-art only comes in automatic.

Here's the idea:

Purchase 2007 lancer VRX - as it has the 113kw 2 litre (non turbo).
purchasing the rally art parts - such as turbo, ecu, etc...
Now putting it together - placing the turbo and all the necessary parts into the non turbo front wheel drive VRX. I have thought of this as both the 2 litre turbo and the 2 litre non-turbo share same engine code? Does this mean that the blocks and heads are very similar/same ?

Has anyone done this before ? Would this be an idea for someone, like myself, with minimal cash yet want some power still ?

We have a member who has turbo'd his RX and another guy who has turbo'd his VRX.

Welcome mate!
Pretty sure the turbo engine is different than non turbo ones (stronger internals to hold the boost)

With limited cash, the better plan would still be to buy a used RA.

Turbo-ing a NA FWD VRX is a labour of love and often the total money you spend is still MORE Than just buying a used RA and often you'll not get the same power figures as an outright RA.

But if it's the Manual gearbox you want, then you don't really have an alternative route.

Good luck!
Beeble tooned MY08 OEd. w/ RA BKit+SWheel
Cosworth Panel Filter w/ RA Intake | SuperCircuit 4-2-1 Headers | Creat’d Ti-tipped SS exhaust
BC BR-type Coilovers | UR + Whiteline Bars
EBC GreenStuff Pads | RDA Rotors

Ofey replied ..... "Good Luck"
I'm thinking you'll be the one needing some luck when Sebastian starts wanting RA part prices & purchases.

Perhaps Sebastian should consider the bolt-on Turbo kit offered by RRM - Road Race Motorsport inthe US.
I believe they offer a set-up for both the Manual & Auto.
This would be the easiest & cheapest alternative for a stock 2.0L engine.

Thanks heaps guys for the responses.

I will definitively be looking into this some more. I guess best bet would still be an EVO but comes with a large price ! haha.

This will be a big difference from my GTR ! haha !! Still think a newer lancer will be an upgrade :)

thanks again for the HELP! :)

I wish I got a Ralliart! When I bought my lancer it was just a gap gear till I had the money for a Golf GTi so I wanted to sell it easily when I'm done but then I fell in love with it :)

It's not all doom and gloom. All things considered, the SST is a pretty flash bit of kit. It is quite sophisticated and versatile too. Not to mention it borrows this bit of gear fron the top of the line MR. No its not for everyone, but its also one of the biggest selling points of the car. You can get launch control too if you're sneaky!
All bleeding stops eventually!
