ClubCJ Invitation Go-Kart Endurance - 30th October

Postby TPG » Mon Oct 22, 2012 12:38 pm

Afternoon SA members of ClubCJ.

MGEC and WRXSA are putting on a little 'grudge' match in the form of an endurance go-kart race and we're opening it up to other Mitsubishi owners wanting to get 'out on the track'.

First in best dressed. Let me know via PM or sms (my # is on the flyer) if you're keen.

Better yet get 3 people and enter as Team ClubCJ!

Mitsubishi and Subaru owners are invited to team up and have a blast at Richmond Kart Mania with a 240 lapper endurance race among the two arch nemesis clubs! All ten karts will be on the grid with five reserved for MGEC members and the other five for WRXSA members. Teams will consist of 3 people and must pit stop and change every 20 laps! So strategy thinking too! For $65 each person, it give you 80 laps (you drive four times), BBQ dinner and soft drinks and 3 winning trophies and a fastest lap prize.

It’s a long race, so bring your own ‘race’ helmet, shoes and gloves or use Kart Mania’s gear. If you don’t have race boots, make sure you wear good footwear, pants and t shirt recommended.

Limited seats are available, so put your name down now as we’ll be going by a first in first serve basis and deposit or full payment is required by 24th October 2012.

Teams will be sorted on the night and yes you can create your own team prior.

Club Sponsors are welcomed to participate in teams!

No alcohol!
No pets!
No tampering with Kart Mania’s equipment!

Event will go ahead regardless if numbers cannot be met then clubs could be combined to fill a team and or we will go down to 2 per team and run 180 laps.

Schedule: Tuesday 30th October 2012

6.30pm – BBQ dinner

7.30pm – Teams and rules

8.00pm – Race

9.30pm – Trophy presentation

FYI: 240 laps is a lot yes.
But you have stints of 20 laps, followed by 40 lap break.
Repeat this for 80 laps each.

It will be a great night out. This setup takes away individual skill, kart differences and really makes it a team event.

Certainly is a few laps, but you never do more than 20 in a row.

And last time I did go karts, I know I wanted more :)

Bit of deep heat may be required the next morning too.

It is a bit late notice, apologies for that. It was intended to be MGEC vs WRXSA - which it still is. We have around 7-10 people already signed up.

So to help boost #'s a bit it has been opened up to friends/families/associated car clubs. Although we'd still like to keep it Mistu vs subie. If we don't get #'s it is still going to go ahead, but drop to 2-man teams and from memory 160laps total.

From experience, 20 laps is not enough! I'm tempted, but with exams 2 weeks away, I'll have to pass. :(

Deep heat for your arm muscles....not from being bashed around in the kart.
we're a friendly bunch and there is a place for all skill levels.

ah i just came across this tongiht, if only i seen it earlier. pity its on a work night for me. a few guys at work have been doing gokarts heaps lately and i so wana go but cant cos my back is stuffed at the mo :(

erin-after the first few laps the the agression kicks in and you get more confident with the kart. when we did go karts ages ago, i was really crap on my first round and got better with each go.

thanks for letting us know evan. do you guys do this very often? i would be very keen for something like this in a few months time, but maybe not so many laps, you get a bit sore afterwards.

I would think MGEC vs WRXSA events to become more common.
Of course it is primarily run for members of MGEC, however when numbers simply aren't there we open it up to Friends/Family/Other Mitsubishi Clubs first.

It would be like this with Track / Motorkhana days as well.

I'll keep posting as things occur. Best to PM me as I'm not on all the time.

----------------------
It was a fun night (even though I had to work unfortunately). All 30 spots were filled and WRXSA took out Fastest Lap and the overall win. MGEC's top placed team was 2nd outright. So all in all a good nights racing.

Yes, a few sore people and bruised knee's / back's etc!!
