Re: Mitsubishi recalls 500,000 cars in AU
Why would they cause more damage?
Its a recall, they get paid by Mitsy to fix the problem not make it worse.
Seriously it's like a couple of hours of your time, just drop it off, go have a coffee or something and don't stress about it.

Took mine in to book in the 120k service and found out that mine is affected by this.

I believe literally all Lancers are affected by at least one of these recalls. Yours is possibly affected by two.
I might add a pic of my car once I style the exterior a bit .

Shouldn't take much extra time at the service.
Re: Mitsubishi recalls 500,000 cars in AU
Drop the car off at 7.30 and pick up at 3.30... for a minor service........

Got my letter in the mail, went to my old address though, still got a redirect active though.

Took my car in today for 2 recalls. One problem fixed while I waited with coffee for 45 min.
The second problem inspected and found it needed replacing.
Have to go back in a weeks time once they order the part in.

What part needed replacing? I'm guessing that was the ETAC issue. If the ETAC issue requires a replacement you'd think they'd organise it before you took it in to get done.

Correct, the ETAC is the part that needs replacing.
If cars are coming in to have the part inspected/replaced you would think they would have one in stock as the law of averages says someone will need it replaced.
They told me it would be a week before they get the part from Sydney to replace it.
Why so long ? They have overnighted other parts for me from Sydney before.
If this wasn't a "free" replacement I would be nowhere near this 'stealership'.

Weird thing is even if the ETAC is on the list for your car first they need to bring it in to check it's serial number, guess the serial number for that part is not kept with other info for your car.
My ETAC didn't need replacing.

The parts should be ordered upon your booking.. The parts department is given the R/O once the booking is made and the parts are ordered as necessary, generally 2-3 days in advance. The fact it's such a huge issue should mean they're always re-stocking..I don't know why they're not.. The fact they've quoted a week before parts arrive from Sydney could mean that there's a serious backlog and the warehouse is behind - it could also mean that parts are en route from Japan and that's the turnaround from coming off the boat and getting to the Sydney warehouse then being sent to your dealer.

I agree if your car is booked in for the ETAC which might need replacing they should have at least one on hand as with all the recalls the likelihood is they will use that part in the not too distant future.
There could be a backlog with all the recalls, just be grateful we've not been caught up in the airbag recalls.

Re: Mitsubishi recalls 500,000 cars in AU
It may be a case of MMA only issuing replacement ETACS with a valid serial number to stop dealerships from hoarding supplies and potentially having more parts issued than need replacing.
It's only a guess but in a large recall like this it would minimize waste and therefore final cost to Mitsubishi.
