Hi,

Just an idea for the Saturday evening - what about a cruise down the peninsula (the drive from the peninsula freeway to Merricks to Boneo/Rye is an awesome drive), and a meet at the Dromana drive in for a film? Large area, food, film (not sure what's on). If there's some interest I could contact the cinema re group rate??

For the way back to St Kilda it's about 1hr 20, and about the same to Doncaster via Eastlink

I was going to ask if we were going on toll roads.

We do not have toll roads here in SA so it will be very confusing for me.

Do you pay at the time or do you have to pay in advance or do they bill you?

I will be relying on my Sat-nav to get around Melbourne.

Yea us QLD boys r going to b spending a fortune on fuel so I don't want to have to spend on anything like toll roads if we can avoid them

tolls are relatively cheap...and for the distance, depending on where you are, is well worth the cost.

For example, with the above suggested route, you pay roughly $5 (I'll need to check) one way. You'll bypass about 50 traffic lights, not including other intersection stops.

passes can either be bought on the day, or up to three days after.

the city tolls aren't as worthwhile and can be easily bypassed by various routes depending on the time of day.

anyway, we'll help you boys work out the best route and cost when we have more concrete plans.

there are two private companies which handle the two tollroads in VIC. so depending on which tolls we use, it'll depend on what tolls we get.
