With a factory VR-X, the air dams are separate parts from the front bar, correct? As opposed to them being a single, integrated part?

If that's the case, it would seem that all I want are a set of Mitsubishi front air dams and chrome upper and lower grills from the Aspire.

BTW, Dora, I love the colour choice. Same as mine. :)

hi Chris,

I think you will find they are in the Mitsubishi Genuine Accessory Book, just not on their website. There an e-book version here: http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=1131

You are right about the VRX, the airdams are just an add-on, that's why so many members here have them without owning a VRX :)

You can get them from X-Factor (a club sponsor) or you can go through Mistubishi. I think the aspire grille is a little harder to come by, but there is usually one floating around the 'for sale' section of this forum.

Anyways, enjoy! :)

Cheers,
Dave

Well I just had a quote from Mitsubishi for the air dams (unpainted) + grills - $1175. Wow.

Hopefully I can get it cheaper than that. I take it X Factor Design are replicas? I've heard good things on this forum - plus they come painted.

Yes the air dams are a lot cheaper from x-factor then from Mitsubishi. You can also get the side skirts from them. They are a little harder to install but they are a cheap option to turn your car in to a VRX look a like.

The air dams also are the lowest point on the front bumper, so they will scrape before the bumper which is a good thing.

Chris just to give you a reference point I paid approx $680 for the x factor side skirts, front air dams and roof diffuser (also got the chrome fog light rings but i dont have fog lights so i sold them). Painted and shipped. With installation im up for a total of $980.

:)

The side skirts are the same on a VR as they are on a VR-X, aren't they? I can't notice any difference.

What I want to know is what the difference is when it comes to fitting the X Factor air dams as opposed to the genuine ones. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so I’m happy to pay extra if it will look factory fitted. Plus I was already looking at getting my front bar resprayed anyway.

This is the look I'm going for. If it were a manual, I would have bought it already. The best looking Lancer I've ever seen.

Sorry for all the questions guys. It’s just that I want to get a price in mind before I start splashing cash. :)[/img]

Yes chris i believe the skirts are the same betwen the vr and vrx.

In relation to the x factor air dams i wont be able to tell you how they look until i pick my car up this afternoon, however from reports from other forum members the general concensus is that they look and fit just like genuines. I.e. great quality and fit

The bodyshop ppl who are installing mine told me on the phone this morning that the parts all appear to be fitting very well.

Well I've had a look at ofey's topic, and it looks like I can get the Aspire grills for a much more respectable $500. I'm happy to pay that.
