That's the Gundam Cafe in Odaiba, Tokyo - the only "full size" Gundam statue in existence. If you want to see if, better get your skates on - they're taking it down from March 5th.

(Yes, it is pretty awesome to see up close.)

How good is the body. Is it straight and rust free?

It's fairly straight, when it was less than a year old it was hit on the right rear corner and the right rear guard was replaced. Both rear guards were full of rust and are going to be replaced with a new left hand guard and a used right hand guard from a donor vehicle. The boot floor is a bit wrinkled this will be replaced also.

Are you just try to get the correct length or do you plan to use that top strut bar?
Are you going to strengthen the body around the top of the strut mounts-

The adjustment in the centre is there to pull a little tension on the strut towers. They don't require any strengthening,I've never had any cracking or seams pulling apart in previous rally cars.

A little more progress this week,we discovered a bent right rear rail.Boot floor had to come out for the repairs.I had spare boot floor which is better than the original so it went into the car

I love this thread Daryl. It looks great. Are you doing all the work yourself?

A few repairs to the dash pad.I'm going to do another one tomorrow using a different repair technique and will use the better of the two.

I used a kit I bought from the UK,it was a pain to do and messy.Doing a big dash would be a challenge to get right.

I'm not sure what dashes are made of now but they certainly seem to last longer than older cars. Most 70 and 80's cars dashes would crack if left uncovered in our summer heat for only a couple of days
