regarding carbon fibre hood - i think they're not legal. i think it has to do with the weight and installation issues, wether they are safe for high speed driving, in cases of accidents, crashes etc etc..not sure about the whole thing..so ill BUMP on this topic. im pretty sure there's someone in the club who knows everything about this.

just wanted to re-phrase that..i THINK, it can be legal IF, and only IF it has been approved and comes with an engineers certificate demonstrating the bonnet meets the said rules and regulations.

All carbon bonnets are illegal, not because of crash testing or lack of but because of the way the carbon fibre its self behaves as a material under a crash situation. Alloys like steel and aluminum will bend and give under an impact, carbon fibre and fibre glass will shatter and splinter under an impact.
Carbon fibre when bent will simply shatter apart like wood creating very sharp splinters, thus causing increased risk of injury to anyone involved in a crash. That is why it is illegal.
