The amount and type of gear you can buy is endless, dry weatehr, wet wetaher, all purpose, summer, winter etc
As has already been mentioned in this thread you do get what you pay for.... Not saying you need to buy gear for all ocasions but in my experience and this is my opinion only, it is worth buy decent gear as in the worst case scenario it really will make a big difference.
From one extreme to the other: Alpinestars leatehrs are hand made and put through numerous tests before being released for sale whilst other cheaper brands are mass produced with very little quality control. i guess the same applies in all industries but on a bike your gear is the only thing between you and the road literaly....
