[WA] The Amazing Rally! (Postponed.. Date TBA)

Postby Graham » Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:09 am

Well, ive kept you all waiting long enough. Without further ado, I give you the:

2010 MCA WA Amazing Rally!!!

DATE: Sunday the 28th of February, 2010

TIME: 10am for a 10:30am start.

MEETPOINT: IKEA , Innaloo. Address is Sunray Drive, Innaloo (just off Ellen Sitrling Boulevard)

WHAT TO BRING:

Your Car

A Co Driver

A GPS or Street Directory or Road Map

$5 for an entry fee (covers the cost of prizes and lunch afterwards)

A camera or a phone with a camera

Enough credit for your phone to send no more than 15 text messages.

Some money to buy snacks and drinks, items, maybe parking etc. ($15-20 should be plenty)

Your wits and your thinking caps

HOW THIS EVENT WORKS:
This event has nothing to do with speed.

Each team must travel to 10 checkpoints located around metropolitan Perth. At these checkpoints teams must complete tasks and take photos of their cars and/or themselves in specific areas and situations. To complete the rally, teams must complete all mandatory tasks given to them and take all photos necessary to complete each checkpoint.

Teams will all start off with 200 points to their name. 20 Points will be awarded for each of the checkpoints completed. But here's the twist.
A photo of your Odometer will be taken at the start of the race. At completion of the race, another photo of the odometer will be taken. For every kilometre travelled during the race, 2 points will be deducted from your score. What makes the rally difficult is that the list of checkpoints will be given to you in a random order, and in order to win, teams must devise a route that gets them to all the checkpoints in as little distance as possible. To add to the drama, the finish line of the race will not be revealed until a series of answers to questions relating to the checkpoints are sent to me via text. Only when these 10 "text questions" are answered correctly will the finish line be revealed to your team.

Along the rally, bonus questions, tasks and items will be present at or near checkpoints, as well as along routes taken from checkpoint to checkpoint. Bonus items will be disclosed on the day and are worth 10 points each. Bonus tasks and questions are each worth different amounts of points, and will be revealed on the day along with the checkpoints. The bonus points are a good way to boost your score, but try too hard to gain them and your efforts could be wasted in excess kilometres travelled gaining them.

The team with the most points at the end of the rally wins.

PRIZES:

1st place will get a nice trophy to take home, as well as a $20 supercheap auto gift voucher.
2nd place will get a medallion, as well as a $10 supercheap auto gift voucher.
3rd place will get a medallion.

POINTS SYSTEM EXAMPLE:
Jack and Jill are a team competing in the race. They start with the 200 points initially given to them. They complete all checkpoints, therefore gaining 20 points X 10 checkpoints = 200 points. However, they travel 150km completing all the checkpoints. For this, they lose 300 points. As they compete in the rally, they gain 40 bonus points. Therefore, they will have a score of 200 + 200 - 300 + 40 = 140 points.

I think i've covered everything, I can't think of anything else I need to say. This event will be available to all members of MCA, no matter what car you are currently driving. This event will hopefully also be posted on other mitsubishi clubs in Perth such as AMC, PerthEvo, MLGA, MOGWA etc. Im hoping to get a good turnout for this event guys.

If anyone has any questions at all, post them up here and I'll answer. I might also add that I'm not susceptible to bribes and if I do get offered any bribes, ill be docking points off that person's team
