+1 its great to have more markets as it increases aftermarket part choices.
-1 we all know chinese made = bad quality, ive never seen an exception.
but really guys, lets take the korean made holden badged daewoos for example...
cheaply made,
cheap quality,
poor crash test results,,,
but hey, add a few more airbags and we can market it with a 5star safety rating.
it really is scary.
now slap a holden badge on the car and holden have a good rep of making half decent cars (sure this is a mits site and not all with agree with me)
and all of a sudden youve turned a cheap death trap into a car that people think is safe.
sure let them make them for the chinese market, but lets not import them here.

you do know that some of the best well made equipment is made in china, just cause its from china doesn't mean its crappy or bad quality. yes some things are like from china, but you can get the same quality stuff anywhere if you really wanted.
the computer screen your looking at probably made in china, your TV probably made in china, things from Singapore can come out exactly the same a china quality stuff. it can be good or it can be bad,
you will find allot of things like those TVs that have the same name but slightly different, are probably made in Singapore or Korea, not china like the decent TV's

hence why things dont last as long anymore.
some companies source their components from reliable countries, and the product is just assembled in china, others source and assemble in china.
i only ever buy sony, (except my laptop which is toshiba, yes made in china)
alot of sony stuff is made in china, but most of my stuff (ageing but still going strong) was made in malaysia.
sure all brands have lemons, but through my experience and others i knows experience, cheapy chinese brands fail quicker and more often.

It's easy to blame emerging economies like China and India for poor fabrication and products. However, the final item which is sold carries the brand name i.e. Mitsubishi, Sony, Adidas or Nike.
When companies go to such places as Morocco and Indonesia to manufacture a product, who makes the decision if the company has:
a) the ability to produce
or
b) the QC standard
Inevitably it's the brand name on the front of the product NOT the manufacturer.
Quite often this is a 2 way street but everyone is looking for the best deal for themselves:
1. Brand Name wants to produce the BEST quality product at the LOWEST price
2. Manufacturer wants to produce AS CLOSE to the product spec for the LOWEST cost possible.
so as to sell to:
3. Buyer who wants the BEST quality and performance for the LOWEST price possible
So the saying, you pay peanuts, you'll get peanuts.
I don't think it's fair to say products out of China or India, etc are bad. It's simple to attribute it to the manufacturer but it's not so black and white. The brand name has a part to play.
So really it's the brand name you're carrying or driving that is at fault not the country that made it.

Well said ofey.
To generalise and proclaim all products coming out of a particular nation are automatically of a subpar quality is just plain ignorant. Like most business models nowadays, intellectual property and r&d are still performed/owned/managed by the head office in the original country but the actual production goes to where it can be done most efficiently and to a certain standard. It's a tough balancing act but at the end of the day regardless of country/nationality, if you feed peanuts you get monkeys.
