on the RTA websight with the list of LAMS bike none of the Aprillia RS bikes are approved.


I kinda want a Non naked bike because if i drop the bike its just the plastic that gets damaged.

I have yet to see someone not drop their bike once from their first lesson. Oggy knobs and other brand sliders / spools are a great saving device....

Even I have dropped a brand new XJ900 Diversion, and was riding almost 8 years when that happened... can happen to the best of us... I try not to drop anything 12 years on from that heartbreaking day, but now if I drop, costs a small fortune in carbon fibre etc...

Go the XL, the price would be right!!!

And the Aprillia's are 2 stroke and need rebuilding every 15000k's or so. Beautiful bikes in the 3 colour tone, but expensive for what it is. And loud too being a 2 stroke. I like the bikes with fairings too. Naked bikes aren't that exciting for me - just a personal choice. But, you are destined to drop the bike at least once as it happens to everyone, companies know this so fairings cost quite a great deal of dosh. The oggy knobs are a great investment to try to minimize the damage and scratches.

The list of LAMS bikes is HUGE, only problem with getting a bike means less money for the car :(

Not to mention the big "I"......... Insurance. For newbies its like at least a couple of grand and may outprice the bike. Then ad another rego (cheap, but still an expense) Safety gear, in the long run it isn't that cheap when you run down all the costs.

@ tryg : I dont know anyone who rides that has not come off at least once (including me have spent three weeks in intensive care to prove it)

@ Superintendent Chalmers : Maybe so but it is two storke technology = old and simple far easier to work on yourself. And yeah i agree insurance is very costly and safety gear can be the most important part of the whole package...

most fuzz dont know what your riding they just look for stickers if it says 250 they will usually just go with it. thing is do you want to risk it.

ive had someone tell me b4 that the safty gear should be half the value of the bike. he only said that because thats what his has worked out to be. plus he has diffrent gear for diffrent weather conditions
