Those style switches are all Momentary not Toggle.

So they only colse the contacts when the switch is depressed, not Press ON/Press Off

Pretty useless for Switching Aftermarket fog lights

I was given a set of genuine Mitsubishi foglights and i intalled them myself. They are pretty straightforward the only pointer is it says to remove the front bumper but if you use a coat hanger to thread the wiring harness through you can do it without the hassle of removing the front bumper

Yeah when you find them let me know

(They don't make them)

(All late model Mitsubishi vehicles which have run that shape of switch have been powered with ETACS ECU system so the switch just has to be pressed. First press ETACS turns on light, second press, ETACS turns it off.)

Shame as I really want them in toggle also. I've even had a gamble and bought some very, very similar shaped switches, that are toggle, only to find they are slightly a different shape. Spewing. Also they aren't cheap and very rare in Aust haha oh well

Sorry I'm confused... you need a toggle switch to tell ETACS to turn the foggies on/off, but in these cases, they're aftermarket so they don't? *scratches head*

ps. Aren't they just on your indicator stalk?

No, you need a momentary switch. Should change the wording, although correct can be misleading haha

Yes in our case it's on the stalk, but it can be moved and other models have it there( such as the 380

Hey
I bought the eBay fog lights a few months ago and just followed this guide here:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/lancer-how ... ights.html

it was identical to what i bought, except rather and tap the parker light for the switch side power, i used my cigarette lighter fuse so i could operate fog lights without parkers on, and have them turn off if i ever forgot to depress the switch lol

just looking to help,

cheers
Ash

Ash06,
well done on your install.

Just for your information, running fogs without parkers/taillights is illegal in all states/territories. So, just don't get caught by the police running only fogs...

Realy realy confused here SIR-VRX.

You say that the push button style switches are usless for after market fog lights.

I have one supplied with my wiring harness and it works fine.

I will take pics.

There are 2 types of switches Luke: Toggle and Momentary. These are momentary.

Toggle: Press on, stays on until you press again, and it switches off.

Momentary: Only on whilst the button is held in.

Yep, it's the toggle type I need, and I think it would have to be the type provided with aftermarket fog lights? Luke: with this type of switch you can probably hear a "click" as it is pressed in and the mechanism locks, and again when pressed to turn off.

If it is this type, I'm interested ........

for the push button, fogies, not the indicator stalk ones its a momentary switch. I'm pretty sure. cause the ECU locks a relay and unlocks it when it pressed again. so it cant have power on it at all times or it wont unlock. i presume
