My VR also has chrome, but it could also be the Platinum part.. I have some chrome where the VRX does not like on the exterior windows..

you can't have a 6 stacker with the MMCS. MMCS only has two slots and due to stupid canbus you can't add a stacker.

i'd say go with the VR. from the sounds of it if you just want to put some wheels on it and you'll be happy with it. by comparisson you'd have to do a lot to the es to get it to a stage that you're happy with (bodykit etc). that's the impression i get from you're posts anyway.

might be worth pm'ing a couple of es owners directly to ask them if they wished they had bought a vr over the es

Look at Dave (hotlanc)

He bought an ES when the CJ was only new (Jan 08) and back in Oct/Nov he upgraded to a VRX

He said the difference was worth stepping up for

ES or a VR. And at tax time too... At that time of year there will be alot of run out sales so things might open up for you. If you look around, you may even pick up an ex-demo or 08/09 build VRX for maybe an extra 1000 or same price. Its rare, but not unlikely.

If your going to mod, depends how much and what areas. If you want just the flashy areas (wheels, audio, bodykit) then any ES would do. If you go for performance, try and pick up an 07-08 ES-VRX mainly for the gear box. You would have a lot more money to play with then.

Yes the later VRX and Aspire have the 2.4 but what gets overlooked is the gearbox in the earlier CJ's. They were geared more towards performance than economy whereas the later CJ's favoured economy over performance. Its also a reason why the 2.4 has same fuel economy as the 2.0 or very little difference.

MY10 have Arm rest across the range from Sept '09 build and 7 airbags across the range from Jan 2010 build.

Just throwing that out there. :)

just with the engine noise mostly, if you use the theroy that noise is power, the ES must be a an absolute beast.

I'd say the VR over the ES. The 2 main extra's, auto lights and auto windscreen wipers, whilst technically not worth the extra $, make the driving so much nicer. You also have the side skirts and not too unreasonable wheels to start with (the 18" on the VRX do look nicer though). Head units and speakers on all the Lancers are pretty poo, even the rockford system is not that great (compared to a self installed system of equal value)

Just my 10 cents... :D

Ohh that is excellent news! Well I think i've been sold on the VR only if i can get it at my budget (23k drive away)

If I can't get it at that price then ES would still suffice for me :)

Thanks for the input fellas

About a week ago in the paper Zupp's had a new manual VRX for just over 27K drive away so you never know what they will do
