Thanks for the welcome guys.
I have looked at the how to's for the ipod and i am thinking that fabricating a new "holder" for the center console where the drink holders in front of the armrest (saw the thought in one of the posts). Retaining the swing over door (modified thought). It will mean cutting and maybe some GRP fabricating but thats the current idea.
There is enough width internally for an iPod touch / iPhone and cabling should not be an issue. I hope to do some detailed planning this weekend while the wife is at work.
I will update as we move forward.

Sounds interesting.....

I am thinking about getting the Ipod Adapter for my Stereo one day and doing a cradle..

I am sick of plugging in my iPhone to the cigarette lighter everytime to charge!
