Haha I've also got an LW60!
Mine is 100% working except for the fact it doesn't work. The DC (?) input pin doesn't connect to the charger any more (charger definitely works tho). So since the battery can't charge and the laptop can't get any power, it's useless. Has a new battery and new keyboard too, but it is useless.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get the laptop charging it would be appreciated

so is the charger broken or is on the power supply on your laptop. My sister had an LG laptop that the cats knocked off the table and it broke the power socket (female part that charger plugs into) off the main board. What I had to do was pull it apart glue the plug back to the plastic surround then reconnect it to the main board with a drip of solder.
But yeah the LW60 has been great, only thing is when I reloaded it a while back for some reason windows does not recognize that is has a DVD burner installed, it only detects a DVD player/CD burner.

You can take it apart and you might be able to solder a new plug on. The power plugs are usually easy to remove and replace on older laptops.
I have:
-Intel core 2 quad q6600 2.4Ghz (with a massive aftermarket heat sink)
-2 GB of DDR2 (going to upgrade RAM to DDR3)
-Antec 900
-2.25Tb HDD all Seagate (sorry WD fans but all the WD drives I've had committed suicide)
-Asus P5e Mobo
-Thermaltake 750W PSU (can’t remember the model)
-NVidia 8800GT
-22" LG.
-Logitech G15
-Logitech G9
That's about all I think.
Any one got CCNA? or NP or IE?
Would be cool to hear about lab setups.

We do this at my work. We usually charge about $120 upwards for it. The amount of labor involved can often be deciveing. On some laptops you have to take the entire thing apart to get to the DC Jack. Part is only a few dollars, but its just taking it apart and soildering everything which is time consuming

+1 especially if you haven’t taken apart that brand and model before.

My main PC is a few years old now, but I've upgraded pretty much all I can bit by bit, but now I'm at the point when it's new Motherboard, CPU and RAM
CPU is the fastest they went on this socket
AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+
3GB Corsair XMS DDR400
ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe SLI (From memory)
GeForce 9800GTX 1GB PCI-X
1.5tb WD Green Power
2x 1tb WD Green Power
2x Pioneer DVD-RW
1x HL-DT GDR8 DVD-ROM (One of few drives to read Wii Discs )
Laptops:
13" Unibody Aluminium Macbook Pro (Mid-2009 refresh)
Intel Core2Duo 2.13
4GB DDR3
GeForce 9400M
16x DL SuperDrive
13" White Macbook (2006)
Intel CoreDuo 2.0
2GB DDR2
160GB HDD
16x DL SuperDrive
Dell Lattitude C400
Works, but power plug stuffed and CBF'd fixing it. Just sits in a drawer.
I also have a server, a P4 something but can't remember the specs. Plus various other bits and what not. Probably enough for 2 more whole computers.
For my Media Center, a soft-modded Original XBOX (Crystal Shell) running XBMC

Cheers for the tips guys.
Here are some snaps from the last time I opened it:
The red box is where the plug connects to the laptop but there is almost a shield around it with no screws to dissassemble. May have to lift the entire motherboard out of the chassis I guess.
I've never done anything worthwhile with a soldering iron in my life but it's probably worth a shot! I know the laptop works for sure though, I sat there watching it lose the last bit of battery power it had and then it didn't turn on again
Great with computers hardware and software wise, but pretty much useless when it comes to electrical stuff. Let's see what I can do with it though.
Charger definitely works, multimeter says it's outputting correctly.

No CCNA here, networking aside though I do play with some nice supercomputing clusters at work. We've got a small one with about 40 cores, and a big one (that we don't manage) with untold terabytes of storage and something like 200+ cores with just as much RAM. Some optic links between buildings and even a microwave link between different sites (again nothing I manage).
