Alarm Wiring Question

Postby tadz0rz » Mon Jan 11, 2010 8:02 pm

Yoooo

Ive got an aftermarket alarm in my car and ever since ive got the alarm installed the boot release hasnt worked and ive had to press unlock on my alarm remote then press the boot release on my keys for the boot to open because if i just hit the boot release on the keys without unlocking the car, the alarm would go off...

On my alarms wiring diagram it basicly says

RED/WHITE ( - ) 200mA channel 2 Output - To Vechile Trunk Release Wire

If i run a wire from the alarm harness to the boot release wire would this stop me having to always unlock the car when i open the boot?

Thanks =)

Is there a boot release button on your alarm remote?

That wire appears to be the output from that

Hey Tadz,
If its a 200ma Negative trigger you'll need to use a relay to trigger 12v+ to the boot release. Its quite simple actually. Unless you can find a diagram of the boot release cable colours you'll have to run a wire to the boot. Shouldn't be too hard to find the colours though. Find a negative trigger positive output relay diagram on google and hook it up that way. I can give you a hand if needed, I used to do this for a living but its been a while :-)

since you are using a DEI alarm I would really suggest using a proper alarm on it. DEI make CAN bus alarms for these and they will control prettty much everything without having to find wires. for those that are buying the 5901 off ebay you will need an external CAN module to run the car. this is the easy way to do things.
