I already have a VG glued to my roof. The effort required to remove the VG, cut and sand it to allow for the shark fin to mate. Then to put all back together and accomplish that without paint surface damage. Hmmm I like the stubby. It's the lazy man's option. :D

Just got my Perrin Shorty Antenna via TNT courier.
The entire thing is metallic, no plastic! :)
About the length of my thumb.

My car is currently parked 2 levels underground in my car park. With the OEM antenna there is a sydney based community radio station, I can still recieve, but a little scratchy (meaning the reception is marginal but good and a good candidate to test against the Perrin).
Perrin installed and the reception is not degraded (ever so slightly).
If I have the Perrin positioned flat pointing forwards or to the rear, the reception degrades a bit more noticeable compared to the OEM in similar positions on the same radio station.
However when the Perrin is in the 45 degree position pointing backwards, it's ability to recieve is pretty much on par with the OEM.

Not photos yet as light levels don't permit and I've just finished night shift and need a feed! Will go for a drive later this arvo and take some happy snaps. :)

Drove to the olds this arvo, (posting it from their's as I speak). Reception was fine, I scanned thru various radio stations, and quite a few community ones (as they have smaller transmitters and are gernerally more maringal to pickup). Had no issues. Reception quality seemed good and there as no noticeable degredation. Of course I dare say with a stubby antenna, if you are in a really marginal antenna, a longer antenna mast will generally pick up signals better.

Here are some quick photos:

Maybe a GB should be in order, seems to have sparked up quite a bit of interest. Pity, as I wont get the GB price. Oh well someone has to be the guinea pig. :)

That looks pretty good, much better than the stock one.

I'd have definitely done this if I couldn't fit my sharkfin type.
