Ok well here is my reversing camera. Its a tad off centre but this is because it was going to need a bracket to be made up and I dont really have access atm to the stuff I would need to do that. Its a mongoose camera hooked upto a Pioneer AVIC F900-BT. Top camera as it works in near pitch black!!

That was what I was hoping the Mitsubishi one would look like. Guess I'll just have to find a way to use an aftermarket camera on the MMCS

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile now but have held back for a couple of reasons:

a) Prohibitive costs - A$550 which I was quoted is crazy for something your reverse sensors provide half of i.e. - by sound rather than sight.

b) As spunkybob pointed out, it's "fugly"

I did get my dealer to forward me the install PDF and unlike the US version of the MMCS, it plugs into an existing used connector which is a little disconcerting. I reckon though that if we find a host of generic reverse parking cameras, we could try and hook them up to the system.

I might be getting a GReddy Touch Informeter instead but that mounted on the dash does tempt some goon to smash my windows thinking its a GPS they can steal.

Has anyone tried hook up a aftermarket camera to the MMCS units?

I have a camera leftover from my old car and wanted to know if its just a matter of plugging it into the MMCS unit didnt want to pull the dash apart to find out I need some special part.

Hi Ryan - just a quick question - how come you need reverse sensors and a camera??

Because the new lancers are atrocious for reversing in :P

I have access to a whole range of reversing cameras as there is a company that does the trucks for BOC who my old man deals with (they also supplied him cameras for his midget car team to use). If anyone is interested I can get pricing and more information.

Well I have a old reverse camera (cant remember the brand) but bought it from JB HIFI a while back ... has the IR LED's for night vision worked great in my old car and wanted to hook it up to the MMCS but wanted to see if anyone has done it before and if we need anything special?

You could probably hook it up to the video input that is in the dash - however that switches off when the car is in motion so wouldn't be all that helpful. You'd need to hack the MMCS somehow (can be done with US versions, but so far I don't believe it works with AUS versions)

I'm pretty sure the MMCS has a reverse camera option? so does mitsu use a special connector / camera or do they hook up a normal camera?

Not sure on that one, might have to pull the thing apart to check it out - they also put the camera right under the mitsi logo at the back of the car...really ugly :(

yeah I dont like the stock position ... I have a bracket that uses the existing numberplate mounts which I used on my previous car so It would go there just need to know if it plugs directly into the mmcs or i need a special part.

Call up your dealership service department - they are the guys who fit them so should be able to tell you.

See post #79

NOTE, Haven't done it myself and CANNOT confirm that this is the same MMCS we have, if it is it looks very easy, if not we need to find which harness is for the camera
