Wow Lancer Smart key

here's one for the books , my son has a RA sportback as well, lost one of his smart keys so using the spare for the past few days , i find the spare on the front lawn this morning wet of course from the storms etc we have had and rain seems to be working prefect, used it all day, now for the interesting part he asking me if I can put his washing in the dryer for Christmas Day from the washing machine after about a half hour I said whats the noise inside the dryer go down and have a look, here is the lost smart key, been through a full wash cycle then half hour on high in the dryer, and guess what it is working fine unlocks the doors car starts ,
we could not believe it. ??????

My Ghetto key has been through the wash and the dryer too.. i was amazed that it still worked.

Amazing.. didn't think those things would be that strong/durable. I think if you clip it onto your normal house keys you won't have that problem of leaving it in your pants so often (it's uncomfortable!)

This weekend it was discovered by a cleaning incident that if you own a CJ lancer and have the keyless entry it is my pleasure to inform you that your controllers ARE water proof! I have first hand experience with this after my controller went through the washing maching on an extended cycle. After a few stressful moments.......Discovery made....HAPPY DAYS and clean controllers to you all!!!!!

The key fob has a watertight seal in it... Works wonders it seems!!

On the matter of clipping it on your house keys so you don't leave it in your pocket.

I avoid this and keep my car and house key separate for a number of reasons:

- extra weight on your key can cause increased wear on your ignition key slot
- I don't always take my car but always take my house keys
- my house keys are on a lanyard and things hanging down a long way from my ignition annoy me to snorts

Why would you need to put it in your ignition key slot if it's a smart key?

I personally use one of those metal joiners/push button thing to connect house keys with smart key so it can be easily detached when leaving my car with valet/car wash cafes.

Well that's great to know that once you find your smart key have gone threw the wash or been sitting outside in the rain which you wouldn't really be pleased about.. that they still work a wonder...
