ewww they are wagons! I don't need the extra space for anything, I was more after the road presence of a bigger car :D apart from subs and a skateboard nothing else has gone in the boot on my CJ haha

So what is the difference between the GTO and the 3000GT ?
When the 3000GT came out, I wanted one so badly.

I'm pretty sure 3000GT is what it was sold as here and in most other countries, whereas the GTO is the JDM version. Same car different name, also I think the 3000GT VR-4 had more power.

GTO is a no-go zone, either too old, too thrashed or too trashed! Didn't think I would find a nice one... :(

So it's come down to 2 finalists - either the Subaru Impreza WRX, or the Mazda 3 MPS (both hatches). After driving both I must say that they are both fantastic in terms of comfort, drivability and power for the money. Any opinions guys?

The Mazda 3 is growing on me....

I went for a run in an SP25 and I was very impressed with the finish...

I would probably still take a RA over both of those though....

After test driving all three the RA disappointed me. Though it's interior is waaay better then the WRX, the leather/cloth and soft touch dash of the MPS is leagues ahead of the other two. Also no manual in the RA is a massive turn off.

In terms of power the WRX had a lot more lag then the MPS or the RA, but when it kicked in it was crazy! The available power in the MPS is what's selling that car for me though.

Subaru's dont dont have very good electrical systems, about 95% of Subaru;s i know have had some sort of electrical problem.

i have driven both Mazda MPS 6 and MPS 3 (the older model) and the power out of both is effortless, it still has plenty of pull in 6th gear and in real world driving would beat most cars on the road

All the good options and stuff for the subi you had to pay for too! $3k for sat nav  $2k for leather, it's a $50k+ car when optioned up nice... $10k more and I could get an STI

haha yeah the 6 is not an attractive car at all :D I took the 3 MPS out on the weekend with the WRX and the RA and it is by far the most responsive and fun to drive. A little bit of torque steer when you hit it hard, but that just adds to fun :D
