Oh no that sucks! :(

I remember my first scratch.. I reversed into my friends fence and I was so angry about it, but when I asked the dealer for some touch-up paint all he did was get a cloth and some "stuff" and it magically went away!

I owed him a beer for it, but he never accepted it :P

But I'm lucky so far, no scratches from carparks, but it's bound to happen.. I tend to try and park away from trolley bays and other cars where possible.

Graham, your scratch obviously wan't in the paint, just a mark on the surface for it to wipe away with cut and polish.

yeah it happens mate, the only thing you can do is just make sure you're parking next to another nice car (as they would have the same courtesy as you would with door opening. Or make sure you don't park next to someone parked badly and too close to the line.

I've already got myself 2 small dents on the passengers side, didn't trade paint but just a clean dent.. very annoying.

I kept my old car perfect for almost 12 years, then I had kids. We started going to play group, swimming lessons and kids concerts. Oh my god, did shit start too happen then. Some parents allow their kids to open car doors, and kids being kids don't care or know to be careful. I started getting door dents mainly around the back doors and rear quarter panels by the doors. They always were in positions where you could not push out from the inside.
I now take my wife's Corolla which has colour coded rubber protection. We try parking the car against polls or where there is only 1 car next to us. Never park next to 3 door cars as their doors are longer then normal and have to be opened wider to allow passengers to get in/out.
I still do not have any marks on the lancer. :D My wife says I'm obsessed with my car. If we go out in my car, I will check the car as much as possible. I dont trust anyone.
Yesterday I took the car for it's 12 month service to my local Mitsi dealer. I refused to give them the keys to my car and explained I would not be leaving my car in their car without me watching. They said I was not allowed into their workshop. I am a Maintenance manager and I know my way around a workshop I explained. They either let me in their workshop or they service the car in the carpark. They gave in but told me I had to sit on a chair and that the forman would service my car. He did a good job but I hit the roof when he pressed hard onto the front guards to push the car. My last car came back from a service with a dent in the top of a guard. Push from inside the door pillars I yelled. When it was finished he jumped into the passengers seat and I drove him around the block for the test drive.

This is the worst time of the year for carpark bingles.

Honestly try & avoid them, went to Parra Westfields yesterday & actually left my car in Parramatta park! Anyway was good exercise.

Vote for Lambo type scissor doors for douches that cant open their doors with care.

Oh noes!! it's not fair!
sometimes I wish our lancers had like a protective shield or invisible force field around them so they would never get damaged.

I'm sorry to hear your baby is scratched. :(
