No surprise,

Proton have been basing their cars on Lancer / Mirage for years!

Be interesting to see if they come to aus... I doubt it personally.

I'd think Mitsubishi would have something to say about that. I'd daresay the agreement is only for Proton's domestic market or markets where the Lancer does not compete.

Yes, but it has happened before....

The proton Wira and Satria were based on the Lancer and Mirage.... they were based on an older model though....

It's Proton, it's gotta be all they're good at! Lets just hope it maintains a considerable difference to our cars. Different coloured bumpers just doesnt cut it, we want to see different tail lights, different shape, hell, MAKE YOUR OWN CAR!

I really don't know why it is so unbelievable..

It is quite common practice for car companies especially smaller ones to base their car on another manufacturers.

Heck, half the holdens (actually more than half) that are on sale are based on Daewoos. They also rebadge the commodore for US markets.

It just shows how good the Lancer must be for Proton to be wanting to use it.... ;) (although I don't know what holden were thinking :P

Actually, they have re-badged Commodores, and we have re-badged Astra's and Vectra's.
