Photo Opportunity Locations - Victoria
ClubCJ Victorian Photograph Locations
Basicly, if you know of a location that you feel has a good backdrop, feel or aurora about it, post it up here. Please be as specific as possible when it come to posting. Include the Full Address if possible, or some sort of reference to a building that is close by perhaps.
Also, please upload a picture along with your suggestion. All submissions with a picture will be promptly updated on the ClubCJ Victorian Photograph Locations Reference Map. If you have your car in the shot the better, but as long as though we can get a small preview of what the location is like, the better.
I had this idea while on Victoria cruise 4.0... listening to people talking about taking photos and how bad an idea it was to just drive around looking for places WHILE on a cruise.
I thought I'd start a thread, because we all drive around a different part of Victoria we all see great places that would be good for a photo shoot. The Idea is, (if you have a camera on you at the time) when you see a place that may be a good location, take a Pic, post it here and we can decide on the next meet, which location/s to visit to take photos.
Just a thought, but i reckon it'll work.
I'll start... I dont have a pic but for refrence its better
There is a big/large court, to park cars in a semi circle to take a pic, not a great background though. Its a court opposite Q Room in Thomastown, off Settlement road.

Mill Park Library. Awesome backdrop with nice lighting...
Good idea Ian.
Since this is going to be a reference sort of thread, what im going to do to make the most potential out of this is set up a google maps index for the photo locations for victoria.
We'll only add places when people have uploaded a picture of the place.
Ill get us started with the picture above and ill put the Mill Park Library as a POI on the map.
Edit: Here we go...Click on the Mill Park Library Link and then click view sample to see a...sample lol

Ian, you mind if I edit your first post to include some details about this refrence guide?

I have few, I been all over the place. Alot of them dont remember the names but will get when I go to those areas again.
-Port Melbourne (warehouse before Boeng, vacant and gives nice industrial shots)
-Geelong. Lots of places. North Shore, the Refinery (dont park too long as security quickly comes...).
-Braybrook. The Temple. Dont go on a Saturday. Packed...
-Lake Mountain. Best in winter as snow on the mountains surrounding and along the road. Only one road up to Lake Mountain and $30 to get on it...
-Burnt Wood (actual town). Only know of one road that goes to this place, great shots either in winter with the snow or in Spring when all the new growth of the forest start. Nice drive too, fast and lots of bends. Maybe abit too fast for the amount of bends in it and how it winds around the mountains. Accessed coming back from Lake Mountain.
-Eaglehawk- Nice area to get some shots in. Many of the roads with bush and the orange/sandstown cliffs.
-Arthurs Seat. Early mornings, not during school holidays...
When I remember more of them or the aboves road names I will put them up

tjoz, can you be more specific with the places you want on the list?
The one that i could use was the North Shore, but i couldnt do the refinery, i need more information, street names, addresses, pictures etc. If you can do what Aspired has done it can help me out greatly. Only reason why i put north shore in is because i found a small car park on street view which was right on the...well..Shore. Could fit at least 20 cars in there.
So, ive updated the maps with aspired's submissions, except for university hill becase as he said, its not on google maps yet. Thanks for that aspired.
Check it out guys and keep those submissions coming!!

Lake Mountain only has one road to the place, its Lake Mountain Road. Its the only road there, about 3-6km long. Alpine Resort at the top holds lots and lots of cars. Exact address is 1 Lake Mountain Road. Google map has the resort out in the middle of nowhere with no road going to it but if you search Lake Mountain Road, it finds the actual road.

Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Google Map Search
The Geelong ones, I will get all the roads for them on weekend. The Port Melbourne one I will get after work tomorrow.
