New member from the Hunter

Postby jukebox_hero » Tue Sep 29, 2009 4:26 pm

Hey everyone, new member from the Hunter Valley in NSW. Not a new member to owning a Lancer, had my 2008 ES since May last year to replace my Wheels Car of the Year 1997, a TF Magna.

I've travelled 65,000km  and climbing in my 16 months or whatever it has been. I've liked it and I've hated it- good fuel economy, good performance, but the plastic interior rattles and it's developed a little whine in 4th and 5th gears at about 60km/h.

I've had the windows tinted, put Lovells coils in, 18" VRX wheels (after my 17" ROH Mantis' were scratched by a Mazda B2600 driver - but that's a different story!), a Mercury Powerflow muffler (for the sound if nothing else  ).

I have some average audio mods in progress including DVD HU, DNA fascia kit and door speaker replacement to post but I will leave that to the audio section. Suppose I will need some kind of photo sharing page to show you the pics. (PS. thanks TADzORz I saw the video on YouTube which makes me feel alot more confident taking the dash apart)

So anyway, hey to everyone, hope you are all enjoying your Prancers.

Thanks for the welcome! I live in the Upper Hunter but travel to Newcastle for work (that's why I've done so many kms!). If ever there is a cruise nearby I would be keen to catch up, hopefully have the head unit installed by then, would like to show the DNA fascia kit, I'm really impressed with it.

If you need some help give me a yell... I have lost count of how many times I have had my headunit out!!

Did you get a wiring kit? If not, it is great so you dont have to cut the factory wiring loom

Yeah I ordered the Metra kit over eBay and just waiting to get it. Thanks for that, hopefully it will go OK, I've watched the youtube video and it seems easy enough but time will tell...

It is easy..... and the best thing is with the wiring kit you just wire it up to the stereo loom and dont have to fiddle around with the factory wiring.... you will be surprised how easy it really is :)

Yeah haha that's what inspired the name, I love the song too. You see Foreigner just released a new album with their first new single in 15 years? It's only just been released in USA today.

Just found that out a week or so ago when they were on one of the late night US talks shows....."Can't slow down" aint a bad song so will have to hear the rest of the tracks before I make up my mind. Also, heard last week that "Alice in Chains" have a new album out soon......how is this posssible as the lead singer killed himself in 2002???? Won't be the same without Layne Staley's lyrics, but I guess the rest of the band have run out of royalty checks so its time to make some new moolah!!!
