Fuel Economy

Postby Loki » Sat Sep 26, 2009 8:39 am

I was reading the "Things you hate about your lancer" thread and noticed a lot of people mentioning fuel economy. I thought maybe you could list your fuel average, what model, motor and style you have and see if others have similar readings to you. Me first.

Model: 09 Sportback VRX
Motor: 2.4L
Gearbox: Manual

Average Fuel Econ: 7.4 - 8.1

Best ever: 6.7
You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

You know who you are :)

I used a calculator on the net and we get about 40mpg out of our NA lancers.... In Australia, we measure in kilometres and litres so not the same as you guys....

Suspected reason why the car is good on fuel - I don't drive it, my wife does!

At one stage on the weekend with not quite a full tank it was telling us that there was 880km to empty. Not quite, but we get at least 650-700 regularly with mostly city driving.

Currently have only driven 300km. Funny thing was the best fuel economy was when I drove the car from the dealership back to my house!

Probably because I have so much crap in my boot, and also i have the full sized spare wheel (steelie) and i'm a bit of a lead foot at times :)

Best ever: 6.3

That was from Philip Island back to Melbourne on cruise at 102km/h and mainly highway.

Seems unusually high though, even when my car has done 7000+km already this year :(

2009 Platinum CVT 2.0, no mudguards

10.5 litres/100 km average (22.325 U.S. mpg), which is 5 days to work with some traffic, with at least 1 day cruise to the city. I'm also a bit of a lead foot sometimes. At least it does show similar figures to the EPA ratings on the American counterpart.

It can do an indicated 6.67 litres/100 km (~ 35 U.S. mpg) cruising at 100 km/h, but I have yet to calculate a Melbourne-Sydney trip.
