New Member - shopping for VRX today

Postby fatal2 » Sat Sep 26, 2009 9:25 am

hey guys,

i've been looking into it for a while but today is the day that i'm gonna go try to make a deal on a new VRX.

I'm looking to get:
MY10 VRX Lancer Sedan
CVT transmission
Effect Grey
(aftermarket) Leather Interior
Reverse Sensor
Mitsubishi floor mats

A couple of questions though:
* Are there any other fairly cheap accessories that you guys recommend that i could look at trying to get included into the deal?
* Should I be pushing for a full tank of fuel too.?
* What type of number plates would you recommend (NSW). how much extra should i expect to pay for them?

I don't know about you but most dealers in VIC do give a full tank by default.

Those tight arses tend to give half a tank. And half a tank of regular unleaded is only A$30 tops so no biggie if they don't. Your aftermarket leather will be what they'll milk off you saying it costs heaven and earth to do.

Perhaps ask for your 15000KM service to be free?
In my Olympic Ed deal, my sweeteners were:
1. Hazard Triangle (Cheapest add on in the Mitsu Catalogue)
2. Front Footwell lighting
3. Lip Spoiler
4. 15000 & 30000KM FREE and included in the price
5. Full Tank of Petrol
6. OEM Mitsu Floor mats

Good luck.

Cosworth Panel Filter w/ RA Intake | SuperCircuit 4-2-1 Headers | Creat’d Ti-tipped SS exhaust
BC BR-type Coilovers | UR + Whiteline Bars
EBC GreenStuff Pads | RDA Rotors

thanks for the info :)

i know roughly how much i'm expecting to pay for the car and roughly how much to pay for the leather.. so if they can get to around that point with a few extras chucked in, i'll be doin the deal today.

oh one more thing, if anybody can recommend me any dealers in Sydney to visit, that would be good.

My first stop is Sutton Mitsubishi in Arncliffe but if they are no good i'll look elsewhere.

Ones to add to the list:
- bonnet protector,
One to avoid (usually sold as an adder after you close the deal by the young busty blonde with a short skirt! Look, but don't touch!!!)
- paint protection ....unless you are too lazy to wash and wax, and believe in self saucing cars

Front Mud Guards!
The OEM ones are not expensive but if you don't get something your first foray off bitumen will leave hundred of little stone chips on the rear section of the side air dams. (I don't know why they aren't fitted as standard)

Tinting
If you can get them to throw that in as a pre-delivery freebie great (and is then covered under their bumper-to-bumper warranty), but something to look at doing yourself if they won't include it. I've seen a couple of VRXs driving around here that haven't had the tinting done and they look a bit strange imo.

Good luck with your purchase. I'm sure you'll be happy with the VRX.

Well i made my purchase yesterday. i ended up getting:

Lancer VRX MY10 Sedan
CVT/Auto
Effect Grey
Leather Trim (after-market - Doyles leather)
Rear Parking Sensors
Floor Illumination - Front Blue
Floor Mats
Premium Plates (sales person refuses to do the ugly yellow plates!)
Full tank of fuel

total price $33600.

I probably overpaid a little on the extras but i'm pretty happy with the price, all up.

looking forward to getting the keys for this bad boy!

There is a saying.... you forget the price long after the job is done.......

As long as you are happy with the price thats all that matters, and you will love leather interior... it is awesome :D

Congrats & good on ya! Lancers rock!. Where did you get it from? You mentioned Suttons Arncliffe, do you get it from those guys or somewhere else?

I bought mine from Suttons last week, the wait to get my hands on the car is just painful. :( So impatient! I know it's only less than a week, but must have nao!!!!

I'd received a price over the phone from Suttons and was planning on driving up there to negotiate them down a bit.

I ended up stopping at Tynans on the way (in Kirawee) and I was happy with the price they gave me so i didnt bother going any further! It was better than the few places i'd gotten quotes from over the phone (by a fair bit).

Ah cool, I had a poor experience with Tynan. Everyone's experience is different I guess.
