Oh dear.... bad luck mate... poor 'roo and poor you!

Here's my advice on the panels you need to get:

New door, new front left panel, new front bonnet (maybe they'll just panel beat though), new headlights.

Front bumper looks in tact from the photos, looks like it took the force and popped back again (as they do these days).

Damage estimate (from my experience) - $3.5K (labour incl.)

As for airbags going off... lucky and unlucky.

Lucky because it wasn't bad enough to activate (possibly injuring your fingers/neck... unlucky because airbag goes off = instant write off hence new car!

Hope all goes well. Good luck.

exaltd,

What do u mean airbags go off= instant write off and new car???

Do you mean because damage to car is likely to be severe IF they deploy or just because they deployed period for whatever reason, even an impact sensor fault???

Aussie,

I meant damage most likely severe or bad enough to deploy. I believe they have sensors to tell if it is severe enough - and likely if it is, the chassis would have been damaged as well. However this looks like cosmetic panel damage only, hence no airbag deployment. Sorry for the mix up in my post.

I opted to pay an extra $1000 excess to lower my premium which i regret now :(
I'm taking it down to the insurance place on Tuesday and they'll look at it and do their thing, it's my first claim so i'm not sure exactly what happens

the crack in the windscreen wasn't the roo, looks like a crack but it's a reflection of a cord going to my radar detector.

airbags going off would've scared the carp out of me :P

Take the car into the smash repairers on Wednesday, they'll have it for a total of 9 days :(

Lucky I haven't been yellow stickered for it yet!

Got pulled up on Roe Highway last night and thankfuly they didn't do the 'walk around the car' and notice the broken headlight.

Even luckier they didn't book me for anything else too

I agree, 9 days isn't bad.

Just fixing up the surrounds of my rear windscreen, boot lid & spoiler (with no panel beating / replacement work involved) is up to 6 days atm and possibly another couple to go still.

Are you getting a courtesy car for while its in the shop?

Insurance is $1750 excess
Damage was quoted at $3,000

yeah 9 days will be bad, not sure on a courtesy car yet, need to ring them or check when I bring it down tomorrow.

I reckon do it with insurance? Wow, your insurance excess is really high!

Seems i was about $500 off on the quoting.... damn :(

But if you aren't going to, ask if you can get it panel beaten out and then puttied to make it strong, that should save some money :).
