Ive screwed up royally ='(
guys im shattered
I picked up deano's angel eyes friday night and tried to install them myself and screwed it up royally. I broke on of the clips on the headlights and the lense cover isnt seating properly and its just a mess =(
Not blaming anyone, but people who said the've done it themselves said it was, well, not easy, but wasnt the hardest thing to do and that opening up the headlights was fairly easy. I followed automoglows instructions to the bone but i still manged to screw it up. Im so shattered, im like ready to cry. My car is in shambles and ive totally wrecked my headlight. After i had a good day at work this happens. Everything went according to plan, i was recording everything i was doing, bumper and everything like that came off properly. Just when it came to opening up the headlights i just screwed it up!!
I feel so crappy right now, i cant imagine how i would feel if my baby got totaled. Lets hope that never happens...
Console me plz

Stay calm. It's not something that can't be fixed with money.
Imagine if you were re-boring your cylinders and f**ked up.

Like dont make this thread put you off or anything, it was me who screwed it up, no one elses fault or anything. Just gotta be really careful, and obviously i wasnt careful enough =(
Gotta order the new headlight, and i MIGHT, dont know if its worth the trouble...But send it off to a professional to get it fitted properly. Dont know if its going to be worth the risk.

Bummer man... I hate to bring it up for you, but is there any chance you can go into a little more detail - like what clip broke what should I look out for? Honestly I thought you were going to say you broke a ring...
Anyways - apart from the light how do they look man? or did you decide to abort?
My AE's have left the states and I'm still going to have a crack at the install so the more information I have on have the better.
*side note* Adrian - remind me to ask you about wiring suggestions some time tomorrow man, cheers.

sure krispy
Everything went according to plan with removing the bumper and headlights and all that, no problems there.
When it came to putting the headlights in the oven and baking them so the sealant would losen is where everything went downhill and a bit of my ignorance kicked in.
Basicly says in the instructions that came with it, use a large screwdriver to carefully pry apart the case. And i was thinking, this is a bit tough, why cant i get through it, but i percerveered and put it back in the oven in hopes of losening it more. After about an hour and a half i got it open and realised this was harder than i thought. But basicly, Ive got bent plastic pieces, 1 of the clips is broken, a few are deformed because of me trying to get them to hook back on etc. I probably screwed up the hole i drilled to run the wires aswell.
If you guys want pics, i can take some and put em up and you can let me know what you think. Im going to get them as close as i can to sealing tomorrow and put my car back together and place an order for a new headlight during the week.
Guys, Please dont make this thread sway you from buying the AE's, just, if your going to install them yourself, be extremely carefull with the headlight, just wasnt careful enough. And if your not confident in doing it yourself, take it to a professional and get them to install them.

I'll be sure to take your warning seriously although I'm super keen to put them in myself... It's all part of the bonding process lol.
Chin up though mate - it's all part of the fun
Edit:
2 people it is, I've already roped my little bro in - not that he knows yet(he's got a bigger oven than I do, my light wont fit in mine lol)
And if you wanna come check out the process Adrian your more than welcome
