FS: Custom axleback exhaust for CJ Lancer

Postby solace » Tue Dec 16, 2008 4:14 pm

Up for sale is my used polished stainless steel (t304 grade) straight through exhaust with custom mild steel piping, flange and brackets to fit the 08-09 Lancer.

No welding/cutting needed, just direct plug and play once you remove the stock muffler!

Is almost unnoticable during idle and develops a deep bassy note during low revs and screams at high revs!

some pictures:

*the piping for the muffler after flange is made of mild steel and has started to rust but i suspect you could easily spray it over with high temp. resistant paint or get the pipe replaced completely. the muffler has minor minor scratches on the underside.

Price : $75(+ labour at an exhaust shop add ~$50)

ready to go in February![/s]

past the cannon? well the cannon itself is entirely polished stainless steel including the tip. you mean before right? its mild steel up till the point where it bolts up with the stock exhaust flange. it has started to rust as i mentioned but you could respray it + who looks under there anyway :P

To any potential buyers, here's a quick but effective rust removal guide... correct anything should you see fit...

1. Get some steel wool, WD40, and micro-fiber cloths. The finer the steel wool is, the harder its gonna be to remove any rust. You can get steel wool, WD40, and micro-fiber clothes at an auto store like Repco or Super Cheap, even try Bunnings.

2. Tear a little piece of the steel wool & spray some WD40 on it. Rub the steel wool on the "infected" exhaust part HARD to remove the rust. Depending on how bad the rust, it might take time to get the rust off (well fucking DUH!).

3. Wipe the micro-fiber cloth over the "treated" area to remove all the WD40 grease you've globbed over. The MF cloth does wonders, especially a good new one.

4. Get some heat resistant (200+- C should do the trick) clear coat, and spray thin layers, then dry, thin layer, dry... 3 should be good.

Kool... right as rain.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know if anyone would be smart enough to attempt my method on the CAR itself... but yeah, please don't... lol. thats what bodyshops are for. This "guide" is for non-body panel parts.

it does drone abit on the freeway, but not that much cos u still retain both stock resonators.. and even less noticable when u have the volume up.
