Survey - Justice

Postby Deano1964 » Tue Aug 25, 2009 10:54 pm

Hey everyone!
For those who don't know i am currently completing a justice degree,
with direction into Investigation, Forensics (Did a Science Degree b4 this), Customs or VicPol.

I am doing an assignment atm about the Corrections System and
I have created a short survey to help back up my research.

I would really really appreciate it if anyone has 30 seconds to
answer some questions. The more people I get the more accurate I
can be on my Report.

Thankyou,

Deano

An example of a completed Survey:

Name: Alex
Age: 19

1. Have you ever been to Prison?

No, Just visited, Barwon.

2. Have you known anyone who has been in prison, and did they influence your perception of corrections?

I suppose so, (Interviews at Barwon)
Probably realised that recidivism seems pretty common among serious offenders once you're in a correction facility, the likelihood of going back is pretty strong

3. What is your attitude and thought on prisons & What comes into your mind when you hear the word prison?

In all honestly I think pretty lowly,
however harsh this sounds... full of scum

4. How did you get your impressions on prison?
Despite having visited one I still wouldn't exclude media influence

Name (Only first name required): Irving
Age: 32

1. Have you ever been to Prison?
As an inmate NO.
As a visitor YES.
As a police officer checking someone in YES

2. Have you known anyone who has been in prison, and did they influence your perception of corrections?
Yes.
Yes. The person was nothing like the crime he was convicted of.

3. What is your attitude and thought on prisons & What comes into your mind when you hear the word prison?
I hold a neutral stance towards prisons. Society needs it.
Walls and Bars and Executions.

4. How did you get your impressions on prison?
From visiting one.
It depends on the facilities really. In Europe/US some prisons do look like self contained apartments with ensuites. Even under lock up, the people there can buy things off eBay from the inside. In Thailand/Vietnam, it's a hell hole. So really it's all dependant on where you're jailed.

1. Have you ever been to Prison? No

2. Have you known anyone who has been in prison, and did they influence your perception of corrections? Yes, and yes. Some people after going to prison come out a different person, and not necessarily a better one.

3. What is your attitude and thought on prisons & What comes into your mind when you hear the word prison? Prisons are needed to enforce the law, but some say they need to be less like resorts, if that's the case I agree with that.

4. How did you get your impressions on prison? News, documentries, people who used to socialise with briefly until they took a turn for the worse and shown thier true colours.
