LED TAIL LIGHTS

Postby sloth1 » Thu Aug 20, 2009 2:27 pm

I found these on ebay and was wondering if these are different to the crome or shadow ones that were available from Ofey.

They look like the same design, but darker. Be careful they may just be the smoked ones, but tinted which means you could run into legality issues.

the factory that made these lamps produced 2 types:

Version 1: One where the internal plastic was the same as the body so they didn't do any processing to it.

Version 2: the internal plastic was given a chrome like coating.

Then then slapped on 2 types of lenses
Version 1: Gentle smoke
Version 2: Clear

I wasn't offered the black housing since it was considered the cheaper version. It's really just black plastic unfinished but yes some prefer that look. I made a decision then NOT to take them.

Please allow me here to make a sales pitch to all of you. I brought these in and was hoping to help save alot of you money but import duties, air freight and GST has seen to alot of this savings. I still think my price is quite reasonable.

The price on eBay is about US$340. Shipping would take > US$48.00 based on the link's chart. I have worked out that it'll cost US$65 to ship it here with insurance. That's US$405 total to get a set here from the US.
Equivalent to A$490.

Let's not talk about NON-premium members. I've offered them to premium club members in Melbourne for A$430 and those in any other state for A$465. If you're keen to get a set but are unhappy with the price, PM me and I'll see what I can do.

I was trying to explain to Ozie the difference with getting it on eBay and getting it through me. First off notice their warranty is for 1year. With the sets I sell, it's 18months. That 18 months also is really NOT from your time of purchase but from the moment I sell the last set I have. since I can always tell the manufacturer that it's the last set that I sold which was faulty.

Further, with any set you get through me, IF you get involved in any accident and say one side cracks, I can sell you just that side. I don't think you can do that with the eBay reseller OR even if it's faulty after our warranty runs out, my deal with the manufacturer is that they will sell me odd parts.

I am undertaking alot of additional risk with my provisions of the additional warranty and loose parts sales. So I hope you realise it makes more sense to get one from your chief buyer.

Ofey it is possible to get the black ones through you or can we only get the crome or shadow. if not, is it possible to open the taillights with the same process as opening the headlight, to spray the plastic in the middle. Sorry if i offended anyone i just really like the look of the black taillights on black vehicle.

Unfortunately not on both accounts. Sorry.
I can't just buy one of any color. Minimum order was 10 of a particular color. I also figured they'd be illegal here in Australia with all those doom gloom comments at the start about ADRs so I avoided purchasing them.

You haven't offended anyone and are entitled to your preference. Sorry I couldn't get your sale.

It's been around for awhile actually. I may well be biased but it doesn't look as good?

Here are some other pictures:

Please also check that this version has an E mark? Else if you get pulled over without it, they can default your car.

Though different things will float different people's boats. It attempts to copy the Audi design.

The ones we had here (still selling one more here) :

As you can see these are E-marked.
They were a copy of the OEM design they released in Taiwan for the Mitsubishi Lancer there:

Are you serious Tadz? Our fronts look much sharper and more aggresive. That is quite toned down.

Anyway, back on topic. We can discuss this seperately if you would like to start a thread.

its pretty difficult, you would have to cut open the taillights, unless they short or are over powers and badly soldered, then you will never have to replace the LED's. most LED items that you see that have LED's that are out are usually had some sort of damage whether it be heavy impact, constant large vibrations breaking joints. and or short damage or spike damage.

most items that that are out the LED will be working fine, its usually something else that gives up before the LED. like joints or resistors or diodes (non light emitting ones... like glass ones, most others are pretty indestructible tho). resistors burn out pretty easily. and most joints after alot of vibrations thin out and get hot spots that make them wear out quicker till they snap. then you get the intermittent faults in LED's
IF YOUR NOT LIVING ON THE EDGE YOUR TAKING UP TOO MUCH ROOM
