Tadz has a big decision....
Hey guys...
Ive got a big decision on what im going to be doing within the next 2.5 years...
Im planning on doing VCE at high school but i also want to do a VET course in automotive. My mums boyfriend was like are you some sort of idiot n all this other crap and doesnt want to seem to realise that i really love cars. Should be able to tell from my car if you ask me...Like ive wanted a car since i was 13 years old
But im curious...Like im not sure what i actually want to do in automotive, its just i see myself being in that industry in 10 years time. I know, times change rar rar rar, but i dont really have an intrest in anything else but the IT industry and i dont want to be stuck infront of a computer for the rest of my life.
Whether it would be for me to do automotive sales, repairs and servicing, customising, owning my own shop..i dont know yet. time will tell...
Like anyone, i want to make a lot of money and i know the automotive industry aint going to give me the most money. One day maybe i will open my own shop, or manage one or something, like i dont know but i just need help on like, would it be worth the trouble.
Im still doing VCE and ive picked courses that will help me further in life, IE, ecnomics, business management, design technology (building stuff), general maths (business maths) etc. Like id like to think that ive chosen subjects that will help me persue my future in automotive whether it would be to own my own shop or work for someone. Only thing is i dont want to be that mechanic who pulls shiftys on his customers and lies through their teeth.
I wanted to do something in the IT industry when i was younger, and i thought that was for me, but now that i think about it i really dont want to be stuck in front of a computer all day punchin numbers, i want to get my hands dirty and be out doing something that i love. I know my mums bf is telling me straight when he says you wont make much money n all that sorta stuff but i think it really comes down to what sort of postistion you take in the industry. I mean, i could be wrong, all automotive jobs could pay terribley but i know where my heart is and its with cars...
What do you guys think...?

quick answer NO not by yourself. Alot of my friends make between $120 - $180K a year and our work pays for rent and vechiles and a lot of other stuff. But you live in the middle of nowhere. Most Qualifed mechanics in Brissy make the 60K mark the same amount they pay 1st years out here

Hey, ever thought of a trade in the Navy. I am not a tradesman but, especially in submarines, junior sailors are well near $100K. Last year I pulled $175K but that had to do a bit with operational service and most of that was tax free.
My normal annual wage is about $105K
It means though, that you will have to work on a ship and be away from home etc.... Icing on the cake is that I have been to 35 countries and when I go to Japan or Singapore, in the future, I will be bringing home tons of good stuff for Lancers!!!!
Good luck with your job hunting...

Depends on how soon you want your own shop. If your smart with money 6 years out bush will have you set for life. I have a couple of friends who own complete appartment blocks in townsville and Mackay and have a trade and can go where they want. They got the back up funds from rent to support them in persuing new adventures. Another friend just got back from 6 months in Europe
