1 Watt LED

Postby Graham » Fri Aug 07, 2009 8:11 pm

These seem to be pretty dull compared to other LED's
I thought I would buy one to test out and see if it was decent but it doesn't apear to be much brighter than a standard LED light.

(These were all white T10 globes, for parking lights rear license plate lights etc..)

SMD LED's are waaaaaaay better from what I've used.

Anyone tried these or are they just a waste of money and I'm an idiot for trying 'em out? :P

A lot of things determine how bright LEDs are and how bright they appear.

It also depends on brand, quality, voltage etc.

If they are just for parking lights, why do you want them so bright for?

I would like some angel eyes I just dont want to have to pull the headlights completely apart. I may give in one day.

I am with both of you on this one... would love angel eyes, wouldn't want to do the work myself... but am also holding on for someone to make projected headlights (like the Aspire's) so I can chuck in some decent HIDs....

For what it is worth, I am sure someone will either make aftermarket headlights with angel eyes one day soon or I will find a wrecked set of headlights to tied me over while Autojoy are making mine up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would, but in the last 2 weeks I have bought: Front airdams, side skirts, leather interior, coilovers, LED Tail lights and brakes!!

I am thinking I should really have a break for a little while coz I have the CF Diffuser and EVOX Spoiler to come too when they are released!!

I am hearing you.. I am also waiting on a diffuser.

But back to lighting, I am thinking up a neat way to have footwell lights, very conspicuously done in the side plastics in the footwell... more to follow soon...

That sounds interesting... I went the boring simple way of LED strips double sided taped up under the footwells out of sight... works quite well very happy with the result. Want to do under the front seats next, so it illuminates the rear footwells.

Nice idea. I have too the out-of-sight LED strips.. but the way I intend going is a series of aligned holes allowing fitting of a series of SMDs or LEDs. Should be a good effect (if I don't mess it up!!!!)
