Audi-style LED light bar

Postby tryg » Sun Jul 26, 2009 6:23 pm

Yes, maybe or no way...?

Cost = $12, they're waterproof, 10-minute install... headlight protectors are not interfered with...

No cutting, drilling, fit into groove below light. Small amount of silicone and they wont move...ever.

Let me know what you think. I have not made up my mind to keep this.

Thanks

I think that these would be illegal as they are not part of the headlight. If you decide to keep them, this might be worth looking into.

I am not sure if I like them.... might have to look at it for a while!!! I am not sure what it is, they don't look complete. Maybe it is because it doesn't continue under the indicator light too.. obviously you wouldn't be able to do this though

No more illegal than pulling apart your headlights and installing LED/angeleyes.

Kinda too audi-esque for me and a bit try hard. Just my opinion.

Yeah good point on both things daveee.

I am leaning toward not liking these. But of course that is just my opinion :)

Actually I bought them for the footwells as they hide up there very well... Was just having a play around...

You could fit them to run along the top of the light housing, but connected to the bonnet, they would be dead straight then...

I really like the Audi ones - but they are much more defined and diffused than these ones.

An honourable attempt though!

I guess you could disable every second one if you wanted it more spaced out... Has anyone seen a good attempt at this, other than internal angel eyes, halos etc...

I don't quite like them. Much prefer angel eyes but having said that, to each their own.

Pfftt, dont listen to people, I like em, just need to be longer thats all =)

As for the legality of them...

I believe it doesnt matter if you have extra lights at the front as long as though they match the lights fitted to the car, IE, headlights would be white then you could only put white lights on the front and red on the back...not sure who would put red on the back but yeah.

Not 100% sure.

I might do eyelid LED's, but cashola is a bit short at the moment...

You can get these in lengths of upto a meter. you can cut them every third, it seems.

Tadz is pretty close to the mark with his comments regarding legality.

These would be LEGAL provided they are white, unless you connect the to the indicators then you could have them amber.

But I have played with some of those strips there too see how it looked. I wasn't a fan of it on mine, but on yours it looks much better, just needs to be the full width of the headlight IMO.

I am actually now thinking of mounting a strip along the top edge of the fog light grilles. That looks pretty good too I think.

Looks alright, i reckon they would be better if the where the whole length of the light, and props for trying something new and different.
