It's the physical removal which is a grey area, even if they are designed to be taken out by unclipping them.

Right now it doesn't matter, this is a long term plan and unlikely to buy anything until late in the year, giving us 6 months to get the 4x4 ready.

So we'll cross this bridge later.

Weirdly since talking about Pajero's I saw at least 4 examples of the model I was thinking about while out today, including at least one VRX spec, is that a sign?

Anyway a couple of questions, first is there a good Pajero forum to join like Club CJ but for Pajero's?
I've looked around there are a few AU ones to choose from.

Second with the later Pajero's having its spare wheel mounted on the rear door does that poses any risks, in the past some other makes with this arrangement have seen them break the door on rough roads. Are there other options or things to watch out for?

Spare wheel mount on the rear door is exceedingly strong under normal use it won't ever break.Rear suspension -- the front bushes in the lower rear trailing arms are a little soft. Poly bushes sort that out.Apart from that they are pretty tough.Stay away from the early V6 petrol engines they love a drink and they leak oil.

Yeah the pros and cons of Diesel v Petrol are, Petrol are cheaper to service but cost more to run in fuel. Diesel are cheaper to run in fuel, but services cost more and if something like the fuel pump goes it can cost a lot to fix. That said any engine can cost a lot to replace expensive parts if they break.

Ideally I'd get a manual diesel with lower than average kays that has a full service history. Just like most vehicle built in the last 10-15 years, auto easily out numbers the manuals. I'm fine with either.
