Ive got a 4GB SD card. Its a Photofast ULTRAII. I got it from my work, since i work at a computer store we sell all that sorta stuff and for cameras we only recomend photofast memory cards but ill see if i can get him to throw in a camera bag. For the price the cannon SX110IS is the best one at the moment. Gotta look at some more reviews about the camera about its strong and weak points.

Thanks james and adrian

Incase you haven't read the report on dpreview, here is the summary.
Not very good for low light conditions.

dpreview wrote:The SX110 IS improves on its predecessor with a slightly prettier design, larger screen and a bit of extra resolution, but it doesn't really address the issues we found when we reviewed that camera (poor low light focus, pixel-level image quality and flash recycle times). That said, this is a great choice for anyone on a budget wanting a well-specified camera with full photographic control and a big zoom range. It neatly fills the gap left by the high end A series cameras, which seem to be gradually moving away from manual controls and back into budget point and shoot territory.

Its small size and low weight make it the perfect 'walk around' camera, though the zoom range is skewed towards the telephoto, and we missed having a real wideangle for scenery and interior shots. It's also a camera that performs far better in daylight (when the results are pretty good and the camera very responsive) than in low light or with flash (where performance is a lot more sluggish), so if you're after something for social snaps - or if you want a wideangle lens - then we'd suggest you look elsewhere.

* We like: Great feature set, value for money, performance in daylight, overall image quality is pretty good

* We don't like: Long flash recycle times, slow focus in low light, no wideangle, pixel level image quality limits usefulness for large prints

Well, i went to a camera specialist and he said that the features i wanted, i would have to spend a bit extra. The one he showed me was $449 and it was a Fugifilm Finepix S2000 HD. It has full high definition photos, and HD movies, not full HD though, not that it matters though. 10 megapixles 15x optical zoom runs on 4x AA batterys which means i wont have to worry about it dieing constantly, face regignition etc.

Put it on hold for tomorrow, told him i wanna do a bit more research without commiting myself to a buy. He said thats fine, but since i didnt put a deposit on it if it aint there tomorrow if i wanna buy it its my own fault lol.

If anyone has any info on this camera or fugifillm cameras in general, please post it up, im interested in everyones opinion here =)

running on AA batteries is the only thing that sounds bad to me. They don't last nearly as long as a camera with a lithium-ion battery and the cost of the AAs adds up over time.

Apart from that it sounds alright. Haggle home on the price, see if he budges!

It runs 4 of them and ive got PLENTY of regargable ones. Work got a shipment of them and nobody wanted them n i was like WTF! Took like 10 packets and it only cost me $20!!!

I went shopping elsewhere for the same camera, they were all around the 479 mark, plus he had them already on special. Ill see what he can do, because apart from that shocking olympus one i have, we have bought all our old cameras there.

If it gives you any idea, we still have the one that my grandfather bought of the place that im buying this fugifilm from. So he's very knowledgable and using the old 40+ year old camera for all my old skating photography, i know this guy is good.

trouble with test photos they can set them up to look great but you arnt going to get that taking a shot yourself on your footpath shooting your car. but the best way to find out is what you have already done check what people dont like about it and see reviws. internet = information

you are smart enough to of done the research so you will make a good choice

From what ive read, they have gotten a postive review, the things that people say they dont like about it is like things i wouldnt know how to use, let alone us in the first place. Plus its fiddly controls, but that sorta thing doesnt bother me. Just means ill have to pay more attention when using it.

Fast, cheap or good. Pick two but not the other.

Imo go for a DSLR coz its always upgradable. You can find them second hand for relatively cheap. Something like a Canon 1000D, 400D or above are decent. Nikon also have good dslrs, i'm just not familiar with the models though.

If you want a point and shoot one, get the Canon G9 or G10 or as Bye2u suggested, the LX3 or similiar.

The reason being is that the image and lens quality is far more superior than those of normal powershots or other similiar ones.

Spending a bit more is worth it as its like an investment where you can capture the best of moments.
