Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
I hope the working from home arrangements keep going well after C19
Less traffic
Less pollution
Less space needed at an office
Better work life balance
Less commuter stress
Lower transport costs
No need to pack or buy lunch when at office space in city
Less likely.to get sick cos co workers come to work sick
Less use of sick leave but are well enough to work eg head cold
Did those without even thinking too much
I'm sure there is more advantage

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
Maybe go the long way to the shops? Mine are about 5 min away but the long way stretches that to about 15 min and one bit at 100kph. Added bonus I go past Bunnings that way LOL
Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
A shame Bunnings had to shit down their world famous sausage sizzle cos of C19
Oh well
Just something else to look forward to returning to once this lockdown is over

Guess we can't take the long way to the shops...

Safer and cheaper just to pay for delivery where you can.

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
Yeah but its a tough sell telling an officer I'm going shopping when you're 50 kays from home, unless you live on a farm.
Or being with dozens of others in the middle of the night in a car park some place. I hate not being able to just go the shops or places when I want to, or just for a country drive, but its the health rules we live under right now.
I do like that some of those at the rally/gathering tried to evade the police only to end up stuck on the grass/bogged.
Can't wait to go food shopping Wednesday

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
Yeah it's difficult times we live in
However
It won't be like this forever
Just seen a news report about the stresses and strains of self isolation. It reported that people are going crazy from being in lock down!
It was strange, actually, because I had just been talking about this with the microwave and toaster and all of us agreed that things are getting bad. I didn't mention anything to the washing machine as she always has to put a different spin on everything, and certainly not to the fridge as he is acting cold and distant. In the end the iron calmed me down. She said everything will be fine, which surprised me because she’s usually the first one to apply unnecessary pressure and get steamed up over nothing !!!

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
This is the list of stuff you can go out for without a $1300 on the spot fine
It's Easter this weekend,, police have said they will be having a Blitzer this weekend
When you are allowed to leave your house
to obtain essential goods and services
receive medical treatment or health care services
exercise, either alone or with one other person or those who reside in the same household
do work or volunteering that is essential and cannot be done from home (this is any type of work that is not restricted under the latest ‘non-essential business activity and undertaking closure’ direction)
visit another person’s house, as long as there are no more than 2 people who are not ordinarily members of that household
visit a terminally ill relative or attend a funeral
assist, care for or support immediate family members or close friends
attend court or comply with a court order
attend a childcare facility, school, university, or other educational institution to receive instruction that is not possible to receive at home.
assist with an investigation by police or other law enforcement authority
all shared custody arrangements of children under 18 years of age, whether informal or court-ordered, can continue as normal. You are allowed to leave the house to take children from one parent’s home to the other parent’s home
to avoid illness, injury or the risk of harm
to comply with directions of a government agency.

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
I don't know if I'm a sad case but I really haven't noticed much change to my daily life LOL
Yes I haven't been out much but I've got a few extra things done around the house, pressure cleaned the driveway and paths around the house, long over due. Built a mobile stand for my sliding mitre saw and painted the gas bottle shelter which I built about 10 years ago, it was in pretty good condition. Got a few other projects lined up for the coming weeks, depending how much longer we're locked down.

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
6 Months, really hope the tip shop stays open as I might need some cheap building supplies. Looking at making some bar clamps, about 1.2m long. I've got a few ideas but I might need some odds and ends to make them work.
Next week I might jack up the car and paint the brakes again, been itching to do them for months, got the paint so why not. Pity I only have the short trip to the shops to warm them up to bake in the paint.

eBay is still open
The shops that are open now will stay open if people use their brains and keep 1.5 meters apart

Re: COVID19 Lancer Prep
I found this fellow's articles to be well written and thought provoking. (And probably a good guide of what NOT to do...)
Especially the follow-up article 'The Hammer and The Dance' where he outlines ways to slowly unwind the lock-down / physical distancing we have in place now.
https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavi ... d3d9cd99ca
The original article is a few weeks old, so feel free to ignore the charts & graphs.
Cheers,
V
