New/Old Member - North Brisbane

Postby SDennis_Evolution_X » Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:06 pm

Hi all!! New to the forum (again after being inactive)

I own a 2008 Evo X, I've owned this car for over 7 yrs now, its gone through a few light changes over the years. Trying to keep it low key and minimal in a way.

Here are a couple of photos, its currently waiting on a heart transplant which I might update on in a different thread. Who else is around Brisbane?

I've done a lot of work over the years so any questions I'm more then happy to help out where I can.

G'day
There's a few of us from Brisbane and surrounding areas.

You mentioned the car is getting a heart transplant.
What's wrong with the motor that it needs replacing?

Hey Bumblebee!

Rod 2 decided it wanted to escape back in October, mind you its had a pretty good run with 218,000kms and 320+awkw so im not overly surprised or annoyed. Everything almost fell into place as i was building a motor for it anyway.

Yeah mate, it has/had a full flex tune. nothing wrong with the tune, it had been pushing the limits for a fair while. Was on 98 at the time. Im not even worried about how or why it happened. I know it wasn't tune related. It was just its time to say good bye.

Very nice
I bet the 2.2 stroker goes like a rocket ship
There is also from memory a 2.5L stroker for the Evo. Either way , will definitely give it a decent kick up the backside power wise for sure.
Taken it for a run down Willowbank ?
What kind of times are you running?

Technically with the over bore as will it now has a capacity of 2.3lt. I wouldn’t go any further over bore then 88mm though as there has been reports of lots of head gaskets leaking due to not enough sealing area etc. the build was only completed in early 2020, final tune done in September 2020. Due to the fact I work away this last year has been much harder with border closures and not being able to get home to work on the car or put kms on the engine for run in. So again due to time constraints I haven’t run it at willow bank, though I’m more interested in sprint racing then drag racing. Hopefully will be out in the street sprints series this year.

Goto a test and tune night at Willow bank and get a time slip
From memory $20 thru the gate
$50 to run down the track all night long

Best way to see if all you time , effort and $$ work is to shove it down quarter
The timing gear will give you the best indicator of it all working or not working regardless of how many dyno charts you may have
