Looking around on different manufacture sites and its no surprise that finding anything new that is bot affordable and decent with a manual gearbox is becoming a very hard task indeed.
Manuals now tend to be on the base models only or the realm of more exotic sports cars.
The current car of the year RAV4 has many models but the base model if the only one with a clutch pedal. Things like the i30N is about twice the asking price with not much change from $50k.
There is nothing new around like the VRX CJ where you got top spec (in its day) and the auto was an option.
What else new is there at a sub $30k price with modern safety and a manual gearbox?

I think they are a thing of the past now.I drive probably 50 different cars a week at work and maybe 5 of them are manuals.

That makes me very sad to read. I can't stand driving an auto.
Re: Is the Manual Gear Box a thing of the past?
Agreed
Give me a manual any day
The fact drivers now days can have a choice between a manual or automatic licence to drive the car with , any moron can get an auto licence
But if you get it you can't legally drive a manual.
And yet some people can barely drive an auto and still managed to be handed a license

You can still buy a manual Outlander new, however it's base model with basic features which is unfortunate.
While I loved my Ralliart when I owned it, I didn't really like the SST and kept wanting to drive my LX just so I could drive stick, (Flappy paddles in the RA are great, but it's not the same) but since now upgrading to an LTZ-V Equinox, I have a new found appreciation for an auto.
I also appreciate having an auto in peak hour traffic It makes life so much easier, and feel like I'm being a lot nicer to the car than consistently ride the clutch to move a few metres or consistently change from 1st to 2nd.

So glad I don’t live in one of those states who do that.
In SA we have the privilege of having just 1 driving license. You can learn in an auto but you don’t need to resit any tests to drive manual (though as someone who has driven manual for most of my driving life and learnt in manual, for those who don’t know how to drive a manual...for the sake of your friends and families clutches and gear boxes, take a few lessons with a driving instructor first...)

Not to sound old but back when I got my license in the NT they had just one car license and I actually too the driving test in my mums UC Torana which was auto.
Wasn't aware SA still had the same rules.

In SG you can have both a manual or auto license.
However only the manual allowed you to drive both manual/auto.
Auto license strictly for auto.

Back to enjoying the row-yourself-transmission after 20 years of auto.
