2009 ES Sedan

Postby AdventureWagon » Wed Oct 09, 2019 2:53 pm

Hi guys,

Was on here many years ago mainly as a lurker but have got more active on forums recently. I am in Brisbane and am the owner of a 2009 MY10 ES Manual 4B11 Lancer sedan. 107,000km on the clock and not much done in terms of mods apart from a towbar and electric brake controller.

We used to use this car for long trips and towing our camper trailer but now we have a 4WD for that, so this car mainly does city duties like shopping and commuting.

G'day
If your keen to do any mods have a read thru thru forum there is truckloads to do
Start with an RA snorkel and wrap under the bonnet
Wrap the radiator hoses in exhaust wrap
Wrap the air intake with gold heat reflection tape
That will keep you busy for a while

Have some stuff to do soon, including 125,000km service (not yet sure if I will do this myself or get a mechanic to do it), and will need new pads and next year new tyres.

I have been wanting to do a few bits on it for a while including
- painting the engine cover
- sanding down and refinishing the wheel covers, which are in an awful state, mainly down to me :(
- repainting a few parts on the bumpers where the paint has chipped
- patching a small crush on the bottom sill

As I mentioned this car has been used for all sorts of things over the years including towing a camper trailer over camping fields, and the only issue we have ever had with it up to the ABS problem in my other post is when the dealer left the coolant cap loose and it lost a ton of coolant on the way home. Fortunately this was resolved fairly easily by the dealer but still a PITA.

Looks like a honest comfortable daily! But I have to say if you're repainting the wheel covers it might be an idea to find a set of factory alloys. They are pretty common now and can be had pretty cheaply and really upgrade the look of the car!
