Auto-up Windows

Postby VRXblack » Tue Oct 08, 2019 8:22 am

Hey Guys

Had a look around and cant really find anything, but was wondering if there is an option to have auto up switches for the windows? I'm not overly fussed with the back but primarily for the front.

I know its not a huge issue to just hold up the switch to get them up but figured if it can do down automatically then going back up should be easy enough.

Cheers

I’m fairly sure you can fit a later switch panel that has the auto up/down and it works ok

My Evo is a 2013 it has them so I'd look for a VRX or Ralliart or Evo.I don't know if the lower models this vintage had them.

Be interesting to see if it works with the newer switch panel. There was talk of this here on the forum some time ago and apparently there was an extra few wires to make it work from memory.
I'm keen to see how this turns out

@bumblebee - any tricks with changing a setting on the car like the auto locks? This sounds more like how the windows were programmed. I know for a fact the windows in the Pathfinder my parents used to own had windows that went up when you held the switch for like a second.

I was told (on my CJ) they didn't do it for safety, better to have one hand on the switch than the steering wheel to get the windows all the way up?

I went hunting for a setting like this in the ETACS box sometime ago and I couldn't find anything.
I do know what your talking about though
On the early Toyota Prado you could wind the window all the way down and then hold the button in and wind it up and hold it in for a out 8 seconds and then it would do an auto wind like the driver side does
However
I'm yet to find a setting for this.
If you go google on this forum there was much talk about this topic
There was a thread where they looked at the wiring and found there was more wiring to be done and it was abandoned
However
I'm keen so see if the panel that Lancerdarryl was talking about work's

If its just a different switch then easy fix assuming you can find one at the wreckers and the CJ has any extra wiring needed.

I went looking at this a while back for my wife's lancer. I think it's a totally different window regulator and switch. I think it also has to be changed to a different type of power windows in the etacs also.
