Thanks, no wonder they need it for much of the day.

I'll take a closer look in the morning. If it wasn't for the road trip I'd leave it until Dec but its one of those things that can let go at any time, don't want that stuck half way to Mt Isa or in the NT as the weather warms up.

Glad to help.

By the way we have the same 142KM for a ten year old! Mine is sept 2008 now at 156KM (about 14K per year).

There's the water pump......it's about 2 hrs work to change it. $900 is way too much to do the job unless they charge $250 an hour.Does your extended warranty cover this?

MQ300125 or 1300A083 is the genuine Mitsubishi # if you want to shop around.

*edit* Nevermind that is the whole assy, not just the replaceable end with the impeller.

I was still in shock when I left them yesterday so I didn't think about the extended cover, tried to call them when I got home but went to voice mail so will be doing that first thing Monday, along with an itemised quote.

No wonder its hard to see given where the water pump is located.

Of course among with the pump comes a coolant flush just to bump up the costs.

Yeah when you know where to look and well look LOL

I guess this is what you pay for when doing a service which is basically and oil change and a bunch of checks for $320!

EDIT - Also when it was in for the service some thought it must have been a much newer CJ, a 2014 not 2009. Nice to see my 10yo CJ still holding up, does help the right side was resprayed after the accident as was the rear a few years ago.

UPDATE - spoke to the service department and it appears the water pump is covered under the extended warranty.

Right now its set for this Friday, depending if the parts get here by then, if not it will be next Monday.

But answer me this, considering this part is actually used on a lot of different engines, not just the Lancer why wouldn't they have at least one in stock?

Water pump usually will not fail suddenly.

There will be signs so my guess if they do not find the need to keep stock.

I guess, but nothing in Brisbane or Sydney, mine is coming from Melbourne, thus the 5 day wait, I could just about drive to Melbourne and get it fitted quicker!

Mine might have been leaking for some time but without checking regularly it's hard to tell, it was last services just under 12 months ago at the same dealer.
