Forgot to mention it was from a 2 year old Subaru that has been serviced by the dealer since new. Customer brought it in complaining that the A/C wasn’t working very well. Dealer workshop had looked at it prior to us and couldn’t find anything wrong !!

OMG and I thought mine was dirty and it only had bit of dust/fluff on it.

Proves some dealers are crap!
But where the hell do they park the car if its sucking in this crap?
Still better then getting in the fan or cabin.

Mine is almost always on recirculate so filter is still clean. Don't like the smell of exhaust from the cars in front.

Might be the some reason here. Especially in summer, why draw in hot air to cool it down?

I have noticed why I change some setting on my Climate Control AC it goes back to drawing air in from outside and I need to push the button to get the recirculate back on.

It looks like a mouse might have called it their home last winter.

What cabin filters do people prefer? Last two filters I've used are the activated carbon one from Micro Filters Australia (CF182C). The one I recently bought was advertised as Wesfil, but got the equivalent Micro Filters One. For $15 delivered can't complain.

On a side note, not sure how good Aeroflow oil filters are, but that's what I'm using now.
I might add a pic of my car once I style the exterior a bit :).

Only changed mine a few weeks ago, got mine on eBay, according to the description its 'Non-Woven Fiber & Activated Charcoal' for less than $8. For that price you could change it every year.

I preferred to buy mine posted from an Australia, and by an Australian company (obviously made in China or elsewhere). Postage times from overseas can be hit and miss.

Yeah mine took a while but I wasn't in a rush so no big deal. I think the some one from an AU address cost about twice the price but only takes a week to get delivered. I'd rater order 2 and wait longer, didn't do that this time but I might in the future.

I've been using Sakura brand in my car, at the moment have an activated carbon one in there and their oil filter. Both only set me back about $12+ as I get a deal through work. They also do a bio guard one which is supposed to filter out bacteria and other gremlins from your air con system but that is a bit dearer, I think $20+.

$20 still isn't bad. I'm not sure how good those really cheap ones are, whether they're actually activated carbon, just normal carbon, or coloured paper. Also the filter micron may be greater (filters less fibre particles). At least getting a branded one like the one I mentioned or Sakura you'd hope they're at least checking their product source.

Sakura brand make a lot of the O.E filters for cars new from the factory, so I too hope their Q.C is up there  anything out of the copycat factories can be hit and miss, but usually if it is a brand you can background check it is bound to have some weight to their product offerings =)

There is a function to permanently set it to re-circulate but not sure if CJ model support it.
Mine is CY but should be similar.

Press and hold the circulation button until you hear the beeps (3 I think as forgotten since 1 year ago).
Back to enjoying the row-yourself-transmission after 20 years of auto.
